A bombshell revelation from a filing to Department of Justice has confirmed that despite President Trumps vehement protests, the Federal Bureau of Investigation does have an active investigation into the President himself regarding the potentially treasonous collusion with agents of the Russian Federation.
Buzzfeed Senior Investigative Journalist Jason Leopold and MIT PhD candidate Ryan Shapiro filed a Freedom of Information Act request to the FBI demanding the following:
The disclosure of any and all records, including investigative records, mentioning or referring to Donald J. Trumps statement on 27 July, 2016 [regarding Secretary Hillary Clintons State Department emails], Russia, if youre listening, I hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing, and I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.

(396 posts)I think Comey's wording wasn't exact. More like he was beating around the Bush along the lines of "the Trump campaigns links to the Kremlin." Did he specify Trump directly?

(5,611 posts)letter to Comey about why Trump was firing Comey. He claimed that Comey had assured him on at least three occasions that he (Trump) was not under investigation. Of course none of us believe this bullshit.

A termination letter that just may be in every U.S. history book in 25 years.

(7,888 posts)Russia's Lavrov to meet with Trump on Syria amid uproar
AFP via Yahoo
Washington (AFP) - US President Donald Trump will receive Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov at the White House on Wednesday, even as a political firestorm has put Moscow's alleged meddling in the US election back in the spotlight.
Lavrov's visit, confirmed by the White House late Tuesday, centers on a Russian proposal to de-escalate the violence in Syria's civil war.
But it comes just a day after the president stunned Washington by firing James Comey as director of the FBI amid an investigation into whether Trump campaign aides colluded with Russia to sway the November elections.
The sacking prompted angry Democrats to call for the Russia probe to be placed in the hands an independent prosecutor or commission. The uproar seemed certain to complicate Lavrov's mission in search of US support for a Russian plan to create safe zones in Syria.
"Just as we do, the Americans need this meeting," Lavrov told Russian television.
In Moscow, meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin met Wednesday with his security council to discuss US-Russian relations in the context of Lavrov's meeting with Trump, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the RIA Novosti news agency.
Lavrov first holds talks with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and then goes on to the White House to meet Trump.

Even if the FBI is investigating---if 45 and Sessions appoint a loyalist, which they will do, all further findings will be compromised or suppressed.

(4,407 posts)If I file a FOIA request for all mention of any video of Trump watching Russian Prostitutes urinate, does that confirm the video exists if Justice objects?
The FOIA is so broad that it could conceivably cover things mentioning the Trump Quote without actually confirming anything that are still relevant to the investigation. False logic makes fake news.
Lee-Lee
(6,324 posts)It's a hugely broad FOIA request and records that could be responsive to such a broad request could be involved in any number of investigations that may or may not be directly targeting Trump.

(14,559 posts)This article has some truly great rhetoric. Heady stuff.
But, sadly, as the author of the piece points out, "A traitor occupies the White House, and hes doing everything he can to keep the American people from learning the truth. The future of our republic rests on the appointment of an independent prosecutor and a special bipartisan commission to expose his treason and all those guilty of aiding and abetting those crimes."
I never thought I'd see this day. God, I lived through Nixon, but this buffoon we have now is WORSE by an order of magnitude.

(9,426 posts)there will be NO special prosecutor assigned. Since when does ONE man have that much authority? His wife got a cushy job to keep his mouth shut LAST YEAR about the Russians. McCain's wife is under consideration for a cushy job too, to keep him quiet? Ivanka, Jared and Beavis and Butthead tRump are not the only relatives profting from this regime. None of them are qualified for the positions they hold, least of all King tRump.

(12,448 posts)Besides the fact that it was from Dump, and therefore automatically weird
First, of course, it's (surprise surprise) untrue that he's not under investigation. Second, if Comey's firing is supposed to be because he mishandled the investigation into Clinton's emails, Dump's statement about not being under investigation is irrelevant. Of course, no one can really believe that he'd fire Comey over actions that he himself praised during the campaign. Not to mention the weird timing.
