As Nixon devolved into near insanity, the civil servants began to put in place processes that would start to intervene if Nixon went to a crazy place. If nothing else, they begin to call senators and such to get the word out about what is going on. I'm far more worried about how the Russians can manipulate the situation, or how North Korea will perceive this as an "opportunity" to do something really dumb. Too many bomber flights from Russia these days to our borders. Too much crazy crap going on in the South China Sea. North Korea seems hell bent on committing international suicide.

And I am worried about the FBI. Its history isn't anything to invite confidence. But it won't be anything as overt as these events. It will be the quite influence of subversion of senators and other government officials. The population will most likely be more like the frog in the boiling pot than Arab Spring.
