Sooo, show of hands, how many think Rosenstein has already sold out his ethics...
integrity and soul to FF45 by signing off on the excuses to fire Comey.
Whether his firing was justified, is beside the point, he was, but did this guy sell out by backing the timing and manner?

5. If he indeed signed on, he is a sellout.
We have to remember that Drumpf lies, sessions lies...it is possible that rosenstein's name is being used against his will. The trump and sessions mob are probably acting alone and threatening the deputy ag.

He's a company man, through and through.

9. It certainly appears that way.
It probably went down something like this:
SCROTUS: I want to fire Comey. RR: He has a ten-year appointment; he can't be fired without cause. SCROTUS: Then find a reason. RR: Well, he got a lot of criticism for the way he handled the Clinton email matter, but... SCROTUS: Then I'll fire him for that reason. That way the Democrats won't complain. RR: But you liked it when he did that. They'll see right through it. SCROTUS: No, they won't. They hate Comey. Write the letter. RR: But it's not a very good... SCROTUS: WRITE THE DAMN LETTER. You wanna be in the same boat with Comey? And that Sally chick? RR: No, sir. SCROTUS: Then do it. Now. RR: Yes, sir. |

12. By definition, anyone who accepts a job working for Trump has to sign a document
written in blood at midnight and sealed with the Devil's own brand (somewhere inconspicuous) to forget he has a soul.
In fact, all Republicans do that anyway. Just without the ceremony. |

14. Bannon runs his own version of Kompromat collection...
Pretty sure nobody without a "file" &/or a "tape"
Held by Russia or Bannon gets a job offer.... You know.... Extreme vetting to ensure candidates are manageable... don't need any internal resistance |

17. Both hands are up! But did Rosenstein write the letter? What to do about him?
I agree with almost everything Rosenstein said but his letter was the strangest thing I've ever seen from someone in his position. The fact of the letter, what it purports to do, and its substance make Rosenstein's function clear. Stooge.
Rosenstein's letter is so much like other letters from this administration, in its style, its conclusory statements, its emotionalism, its unsupported judgments, its use of non-legal arguments, the way it refers to 'universal judgment'--it's easy to believe that someone else wrote it. Someone who is not a lawyer. It's written like something a non-lawyer would think a lawyer would write. Someone like a Miller or Bannon or even Kellyane who, despite being a lawyer, doesn't make arguments like an experienced lawyer would. What on earth was Rosenstein thinking? This whole business of 'letters advising president requiring his action' to legitimize president's action wasn't believable when they did it to support the Muslim ban and it's not believable now. This ritual of marshaling evidence & support for a decision after the decision is made rather than making a decision in response to evidence is a deception that is difficult for anyone to successfully challenge. The advantage of making a paper trail after the fact (or contemporaneously w/the fact) is that after the fact--there's a paper trail. Now the problem is: What's to be done about Rosenstein? |
