Shrubbery Gate! You can't make this up!

Spicer missed the briefings Wednesday and Thursday while on Naval Reserve duty, but engaged in a heated argument with The Washington Posts national editor after the newspaper reported he hid in bushes Tuesday night outside the White House after doing a TV hit to defend Trumps firing of Comey.
Spicer said late Thursday that The Washington Post falsely described the situation and grossly misstated the situation around our attempt to brief the press.
A person familiar with the press secretarys location late Tuesday night said Spicer was standing between or behind bushes, but not physically in a bush.
More than 12 hours after the story ran, Spicer eventually secured an editors note. Spicer huddled with his staff among bushes near television sets on the White House grounds, not 'in the bushes,' as the story originally stated, the newspaper wrote.
Okay, he was "among" the bushes, not physically INSIDE the bushes. Glad we cleared that up.

(61,588 posts)Birds can sit in bushes. Cats fit in bushes. Small children and some dogs fit in bushes, but not grown men.
Nobody thought that Shouty Spice actually spoke from within the confines of a bush. The context was clear. He was hiding, er, standing, amidst the shrubbery.

(82,849 posts)Another thing that I would never have guessed that was keeping America from being great is that we didn't have enough White House press secretaries hiding behind bushes, shrubs, or hedges. Thank you, God, for Making America Great Again by having Sean Spicer hiding in the greenery.
It's real good that Donald done that, spend some time during the daily briefing discussing the hide-and-seek talents of Sean Spicer.

(4,291 posts)NOW I know where I've seen him before: Ensign Charles Parker on McHale's Navy.
Yes, I know: I'm dating myself with that reference, but the similarities between these two characters go way beyond appearances: the behavior, the deceit, the buffoonery.
No disrespect intended for the US Navy, or the women and men who serve our country, except maybe one Reservist.
