How about you ?

I've never seen anyone argue seriously that Jackson was mentally impaired. I'm no Jackson scholar though.

(28,270 posts)Trump is out to destroy american democracy. He colluded with a hostile foreign power to do so.
As soon as anyone starts getting close to this fact Trump fires them. His fucking traitorous party could give a shit and is actively protecting the lawless POS that defiles our white house.

(11,845 posts)boy scouts. I remember Nixon and Rayguns too and neither of them debased the office of the Presidency on a daily basis. Neither of them dangerously hollowed out the government and neither of them could be connected to a criminal enterprise, and by that I mean Trump Inc.

When Trump was running, I kept thinking of Rob Ford.

(37,428 posts)He has had the easiest of lives, with no challenges to his intellect, patience or courage. He doesn't seem to have had much education. He's never really had a job or even a work ethic.
There's no escaping the stress of the presidency, even with weekends off and days spent mostly watching TV. He wasn't ready for a leadership position, or for much of any job.

(5,810 posts)Now we are seeing the real tRump in unvarnished glory. No one is controlling him now which makes me wonder where Jared and Ivanka are these days? Not hearing much about them being present to try to keep him off of Twitter and not doing sit down interviews.
He has been kept somewhat on track until the walls started closing in on him regarding the whole Russian connection. He senses things spiraling out of control but is still delusional enough to believe he...and only he....can get things back under his command. But that is his Narcissism at work.
The game is drawing to a great crescendo way beyond trump's ability to stop. We knew it was coming and saw the signs that things were unraveling. Now it is time for Congress to step up and remove him before more damage is done. And someone needs to explain to the tRump fans that they were duped, taken in by this madman. They won't want to hear it and some won't believe it but it has to be done. Book some time on every media outlet and let a bipartisan panel explain it. Include medical experts to explain Malignant Narcissism and how it impacts trump's behavior. The future of the U.S. is at stake. Delay puts everyone of us at risk. This situation is not going to get better until he is removed.

(33,112 posts)"Commodus the gladiator
Commodus also had a passion for gladiatorial combat, which he took so far as to take to the arena himself, dressed as a gladiator. The Romans found Commodus' naked gladiatorial combats to be scandalous and disgraceful. It was rumoured that he was actually the son, not of Marcus Aurelius, but of a gladiator whom his mother Faustina had taken as a lover at the coastal resort of Caieta.
In the arena, Commodus always won since his opponents always submitted to the emperor. Thus, these public fights would not end in death. Privately, it was his custom to slay his practice opponents. For each appearance in the arena, he charged the city of Rome a million sesterces, straining the Roman economy.
Commodus raised the ire of many military officials in Rome for his Hercules persona in the arena. Often, wounded soldiers and amputees would be placed in the arena for Commodus to slay with a sword. Citizens of Rome missing their feet through accident or illness were taken to the arena, where they were tethered together for Commodus to club to death while pretending they were giants. These acts may have contributed to his assassination.
Commodus was also known for fighting exotic animals in the arena, often to the horror of the Roman people. According to Gibbon, Commodus once killed 100 lions in a single day. Later, he decapitated a running ostrich with a specially designed dart and afterwards carried the bleeding head of the dead bird and his sword over to the section where the Senators sat and gesticulated as though they were next. Dio notes that the targeted senators actually found this more ridiculous than frightening, and chewed on laurel leaves to conceal their laughter. On another occasion, Commodus killed three elephants on the floor of the arena by himself. Finally, Commodus killed a giraffe, which was considered to be a strange and helpless beast."
