Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers identified as possible pick for FBI Director

A White House official says Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers is on the short list for nominees to be the next FBI Director.

Senator Cory Gardner sent out a tweet Friday morning that reads, "Colorado's John Suthers would be an excellent choice to lead the FBI. I recommended him to the WH & am excited to see his name on this list."

In response to inquiries about the development, Suther's office sent the following statement, "While I am honored to be listed as a possibility among some tremendous law enforcement professionals, at this point it would be premature to comment any further."

I knew him slightly. He took over a US Attorney in Colorado about 6 months before I retired. He seemed a fair enough guy then, but I wasn't around long enough to develop a firm opinion.
