Should we amend the US Constitution to require Presidential election winners to win both the

electoral and popular vote?
If we do this we can prevent another Hayes (1876),Bush (2000),and Trump (2016) from occurring.

2000- In a 2 person race between Gore and Bush, Gore would have won the popular vote in FL and NH making him the winner of electoral college.

unfortunately that isn't going to happen, because such a change would be dependent on the same people who benefit from the thing.

is the thirteen smallest states to block this, and I figure at least fifteen will. The Electoral College may have made a lot more sense two hundred years or so ago than it does now, but it's baked into the cake.

The answer is to play the game as chess, even if it looks like the playing field is a checkerboard. Next time around, our candidate should visit Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, instead of going to California to raise money that really won't make a difference.

our elections should be decided by the popular vote with a run off so 3rd party candidates can't
spoil it.
