There is only one move the GOP can make at this point---and it ought to have Democrats worried.

The only way the GOP can survive the 2018 elections--and Trump can avoid impeachment in 2019---is for Sessions and his new hand picked GOP FBI head to investigate and prosecute Democratic politicians.

I am talking Don Siegelman on steroids. Look for the Trump DOJ to launch a massive political inquisition. They will count upon the natural tendency of the American public to judge as guilty until proven innocent any target of an investigation. They will make sure that the charges are salacious enough that the mainstream media will not be able to resist giving the phony stories maximum coverage. We are talking sex, drugs and more sex.

Dems had better lawyer up now. And members of Democratic Underground--resist the urge to disavow anyone who is "tainted" by accusations of corruption. It is becoming increasingly likely that Hillary Clinton herself will be the target of an official witch hunt--it is what Trump's base wants. When the accusations start flying, do not say "We should have nominated someone less controversial." Sessions would accuse Mother Theresa of being a pimp if she was a Democrat.

You wouldn't throw Aung San Suu Kyi under the bus for being the target of a political vendetta in her own country, would you?

Bill only became more popular when he was witch-hunted for Monica. He still has rock star popularity all over the world.

If you think the Comey sacking led to a firestorm, then watch what will happen if they continue to persecute Hillary. Do they WANT to lose Congress? That might do it.

so there's something to it, but I think they'll stick to the targets they already hate like Jerry and proceed cautiously as the Comey maneuver kind of backfired.

p.s. not sure about the Clintons but possibly the Obamas

As I was doing a background for this post, I thought they were from the same town and didn't like each other. I was wrong, Gov. Siegelman is from Mobile and AG Sessions is from Selma and they are about the same age. However, it is possible that they were both at the lesser school in Alabama (Crimson Tide) and may have some interests there.

Siegelman speaks from Jail

and Session speaks not from Jail

Siegelman was the last semi-progressive Governor that Alabama had, and frankly, probably will have. I leave the state to come to North Carolina, and it has turned in North Alabama with the machinations of the Rs in Raleigh.
