4. While I get the absurdity of using tikis, men with torches...

demonstrating like that don't strike me as funny, not considering the slogans they used while making their stand in the park last night, nor the nasty threatening tweets they're spewing out today.

I'm not grousing at anyone for making light of these guys, so please don't take it personally. I'm just remembering a demo years ago and how quickly those types are to use their weapons. That the faces in that picture are all so young is what worries me most.

There was another rally in that same Charlottesville, Virginia park tonight, hundreds of peaceful well-meaning people came out to take back Lee Park; a banner was hung over the R.E.Lee statue saying "Black Lives Matter" and "Fuck White Supremacy".

8. you should understand

...while we all take the bigotry behind this absurd display seriously, it deserves as much ridicule as we can manage through our outrage.

Personally, I'm not moved in the least by these elitist white men parading around at night and I see only their ridiculousness. I won't give them the benefit of taking them seriously.

Ridicule them, ostracize and isolate them. Make this nonsense as uncool for participants as those of us in the community that abhor the behavior can project. Taking them seriously doesn't seem to be a productive way to address them.
