So - how many times since election evening have you ended the day in disbelief?

Shock? Anger? Sadness? Confusion?

Completely surprised by the often unbelievable news that broke that day? The level of uncharted territory we all find ourselves in?

Just when you think it has to end, that it can't get worse - somehow it does.

In Spinal Tap speak, forget 11 - we've blown by what seemed already impossible.

Where next? What next?

I've come to the realization that nothing matters. There is nothing he could do that prompts the GOP to act or that drops his approval rating below the high 30s. People simply do not care about anything other than their tribal loyalty to their guy.

I try to stop thinking about it so I can sleep.

During the general election, I was horrified to contemplate the candidacy of a man the media said would never survive the primaries.

It's turned out to be worse than I ever imagined. Hopefully for the country, that causes an earlier end to his time in office. I think the results should be overturned but I have doubts there is any legal way that can happen.

and I'm managing to face it with a great deal of serenity.

You see, it's not my fault. It's not your fault. It's THEIR fault and THEY are the ones who are going to have to clean up after themselves this time. It's either that or let him fuck everything up so thoroughly they're going to get very badly burned in the process.

So 'scuse me, time to pop some more corn and watch the show.

I'm going to enjoy seeing Republicans cleaning up their own elephant shit. Or trying to.

It's the days that are calm that leave me in disbelief now. I think that will ultimately be his undoing. Wall Street doesn't like chaos and neither do other world leaders.

Nothing in those galleries but SAMs, the Simplistic Angry Males. They put Trump in office and refuse to believe anything he does is less than perfectly brilliant. I just spent 4 days walking the course at the Players Championship at Sawgrass. You'll never wonder how Trump was elected if you're in that company. There are still Make America Great Again hats and bumper stickers all over the place. Stand greenside for any length of time and you'll be treated to Pro Trump propaganda and fascination.

I'm reminded of an episode from the original Star Trek. There was a parallel universe with an evil Kirk and virtually uncontrolled power. The evil captain had an erase button in his suite. He could literally vaporize anyone on screen with a touch of that button. That's what Donald Trump views as proper. He'd never stop using that button. And I'm convinced he'll come as close as possible, given the powers he does have. We're very early in the firing stages, the abuse stages. I would never underestimate Donald Trump's audacity. That's why I'm not overly excited about recent developments. Too many people are looking at it from a traditional perspective, that doing X and Y has to lead to trouble Z. Not in this case. Republicans have been electing SAMs to high office for more than a decade. Those golf types want someone like this in charge. This is their glory. I heard one guy on Saturday alongside the 15th green chortle that Trump, "hasn't even started to tear down Washington," followed by a gleeful, "just wait until he does."
