Israel feared Trump would spill their secrets to Russia — and that’s exactly what just happened

Revelations that President Donald Trump gave Russian government officials highly classified information continued to rock Washington on Tuesday, and a New York Times report reveals that the source for the classified information came from Israel.

According to the Times’ sources, “the revelation that Mr. Trump boasted about some of Israel’s most sensitive information to the Russians could damage the relationship between the two countries” because it “raises the possibility that the information could be passed to Iran, Russia’s close ally and Israel’s main threat in the Middle East.”

Israeli spies were reportedly warned by some of their American counterparts earlier this year to avoid sharing information directly with the Trump administration over fears that sensitive intelligence could leak out to hostile powers.

Israel expected to get the US to recognize Jerusalem as being 100%, undivided, belonging to Israel as its capitol. And to get more US intervention against Iran and Hezbollah.

And this is the trade-off.

If a country chooses to treat Trump as just another president and act accordingly, then they can expect to be betrayed, insulted, and placed in harm's way.

At this moment in time, it's just good common sense to treat the US executive branch as an unknown quantity.

Yes, Trump is wrong all the way around - but until he is no longer a danger, the rest of us have to protect ourselves against him and the GOP. That applies to other countries as well.

Trump is not your friend. Trump fully belongs to his ego. Pretending he is anything else but a big orange blob of self-centered interests is stupid, at best.

You'll have to establish back-channels that you keep from Trump and his entire cabinet. Trump can't be trusted and anyone defending him can't be trusted. Making excuses for his ineptitude will not sustain the facade of a functioning government. It only serves to embolden Trump's behavior.

Shake his hand. Smile to his face - but never - ever- forget that he can't be trusted with anything.
