(51,129 posts)No, you place it on file as a documented record and allow the truth to prevail in due time, after the investigation is completed. You take measures as needed to ascertain you do not compromise your investigations in the meanwhile. For Comey, the Sally Yates firing would have been part of a pattern of obstruction of justice after his conversation with Trump, and from that point on obstruction would have been on his radar as part of the larger inquiry into the election interference investigation. Comey knew they were in Watergate territory way back then.
So, this week we might see if Boente was actually protecting the TrumpRussia investigation by doing what he could to keep his position. Rosenstein and Boente may be presenting Trump's indictment to the full Senate on Thursday, if they still have their jobs then.
EXCLUSIVE: Sealed Indictment granted against Donald Trump

(4,187 posts)But no, he had to write a memo and wait until he was fired to make it public. The guy is all about covering his own ass. He couldn't care less what happens to the country as long as he keeps his job. As Maddow explained yesterday, this is not the first time he has done this.
I'm glad this information has come out, but my opinion of Comey goes down the more I hear about him. He's one of the worst kinds of self-centered people out there. A typical Republican who only cares about himself.
Comey and the art of the well-timed leak
One story was based on emails leaked to the Times shows that Comey had written to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in 2005, arguing that the torture tactics were a bad idea and that Gonzales and other Justice officials would regret being pushed by the White House to approve them.
At the time the stories were published, Obama Justice Department officials marveled at the fortuitous timing of someone close to Comey coming to rescue of his larger-than-life, good guy reputation.

(37,364 posts)why should he? I was also my understanding that Sessions had been in the room but left shortly before Trump cleared the room. I have no doubt that Sessions was a party to obstruction.

(15,220 posts)Ryan made reference to the need to find out why Comey hadn't reported the situation.
Then Ryan went on to complain about all of the "politics being played" against Trump.
I was driving and nearly had to pull over for an alka seltzer with all the blatant hypocrisy.
