(111,076 posts)He works for a law firm that has represented Donald Trump.
This is a mess

(68,868 posts)But he works for Trump's private law firm.

(26,060 posts)say that about all the Jewish members of congress. And let's remember, he was OUR VP candidate.

(26,060 posts)What does that have to do with him not being a dual citizen?

(7,480 posts)I specifically responded to your words: "...let's remember, he was OUR VP candidate."

(26,060 posts)was Democrats didn't start using right wing memes against Jews until they have the nerve to not agree with us as Democrats. It's fucking nauseating.

(37,158 posts)When he committed e Gore campaign to NOT contest absentee ballots coming from military bases even when they were clearly disqualified (e.g., postmarked after Election Day)? While the Bush people contested anything and everything they could -- and plenty they couldn't just to gum up the works.
And how, eight years later, he endorsed McCain/Palin?
Let's remember those parts too, since they're more up to date.

(26,060 posts)all of a sudden makes it okay for Democrats to question his loyalty to this country? Keep digging, I'm getting quite the education from this thread.

(37,158 posts)Just how many posts in this thread support the "dual citizenship" crap, vs how many are only pointing out Joe's track record as an opportunist and a willingness to bend a supposedly impartial process where he sees personal advantage?
I think Malaise should delete the OP or at very least edit it with a mea culpa if he didn't know the question itself is a smear.
However, you're the one who brought up Joe's VP run, and that's the part I was responding to. I don't question his loyalty, I do strongly question his integrity.
But if he takes a position in the Trump administration, questioning his loyalty is as fair game as it is for the rest of the cast of The Kremlin Don Show.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)had anything to do with his integrity and NOT his loyalty, you'd have a point. MY point was that Democrats didn't start questioning his loyalty until he strayed from liberal Orthodoxy. So lovely to see the disgusting dual loyalty libel here on a board I've been part of for so many years. Really warms my fucking heart.

(7,300 posts)I know he's part cartoon character and I do know he's no Democrat at this point in spite of being called a main stream Democrat. He's a Trump lawyer.

(62,444 posts)First off, there is no recognition in the US of "dual citizenship". You are a citizen of the US or you are not. If some other country wants to recognize you as a citizen, that's up to the other country.
Many persons with an Irish grandfather are eligible, and receive Irish citizenship. About the only advantage is that they get to use the short immigration line when they visit Ireland.
This is a common anti-semitic smear used against Jews in politics, and has no bearing on anything.

(92,116 posts)anti-Israeli, and by proxy, anti-Jewish leanings.
Diane Rehm did the same thing to Bernie Sanders by stating he had dual citizenship with Israel. That was not true, and Rehm even repeated her assertion of the senator's dual citizenship as a fact.
Some on the far left and the far right falsely associate anyone who happens to be Jewish as having dual citizenship.
The reason Lieberman should not be FBI director is quite simple thought. He isn't qualified.
This post states it much more eloquently:

(37,158 posts)...or at least edit the OP because that particular question is the "go to" question for antisemites. It doesn't belong here.
Lieberman makes it easy enough to question his integrity. Don't muddy it by stirring this crap into the water.
