And DT is having a terrible, horrible, no-good, very BAD day!http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/18/trump-says-appointment-of-special-counsel-hurts-our-country-terribly.html
President Donald Trump said Thursday he thinks the appointment of special counsel for the Russia investigation is bad for the United States.
"I believe it hurts our country terribly, because it shows we're a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country," Trump said. "And we have very important things to be doing right now, whether it's trade deals, whether it's military, whether it's stopping nuclear all of the things that we discussed today. And I think this shows a very divided country."
Trump made his comments during a lunch with reporters and TV anchors.
"It also happens to be a pure excuse for the Democrats having lost an election that they should have easily won because of the Electoral College being slanted so much in their way. That's all this is. I think it shows division, and it shows that we're not together as a country. And I think it's a very, very negative thing. And hopefully, this can go quickly, because we have to show unity if we're going to do great things with respect to the rest of the world."

(2,807 posts)I for one want to thank you for uniting this country. Your work in screaming about POTUS Barack Obama being born outside the US was hugely helpful. Leading the lock her up chants to Hillary Clinton, was again, a master stroke of unity.
It is to fecking laugh.
Its just madness.
Madness.

it's one thing to beat an opponent when you're gentlemanly about it, but people don't forget insults. go ask any Deplorable if they've forgotten what they think HRC called them.

(63,221 posts)How dare he accuse anyone else of being divisive when that is what he based his entire campaign and now his presidency on. His hypocrisy is astounding!

(4,483 posts)of what DT means when he says (and he's said it several times now) that the electoral college is "slanted" in the Democrats' favor, making it hard for a Republican to win? Does he understand that he won the electoral college vote? When he was showing people those red and blue maps showing which voting districts he won, did anybody explain to him how that works?
I have met ivy-league-educated men who are not very bright, and I understand that with "legacies" and donors like Jared Kushner's father, not everyone admitted to a selective college is going to be a genius. But surely they have to have a normal IQ? I'm not convinced that DT has an IQ above 90, and I'm as sure as I can be that he can't read--hence his second-grade vocabulary.
On top of his crippling mental health issues, this--well, stupidity, I guess--must make his life very difficult indeed. It's a good thing he inherited a lot of money; otherwise he'd be unemployable.

(4,483 posts)because the second part of his verbiage is about how the Democrats should have won--but that was a situation related to voting itself, not to any inherent bias in the electoral college, which is what I think *he* thinks he's talking about. But I think you've solved the mystery for me--thanks.

(13,485 posts)One ugly note... Trump has the executive power to dismiss Mueller. Hope he's not gearing up to do so with this false rhetoric.

(13,485 posts)Listening to Dan Rather on Rachel Maddow yesterday he warned that if Trump dismisses Mueller in the next 2 or 3 weeks Trump would probably get away with it and it could be the end of the Republic. If he waits, it's more likely to catch up with him. Not sure what his reasoning was but my heart sank a bit. I didnt know it was possible to dismiss him.

(17,136 posts)That Trump cannot directly fire Mueller. He CAN fire Rod Rosenstein but he has to find a new Deputy AG who will fire Mueller. I think I got this right...

(13,485 posts)There was a senator on the intelligence committee (I think) and Dan Rather and both seemed to agree the president has the power to fire... I'm curious now... maybe I got it wrong.

(13,485 posts)Start at about 35 min into the show to the end. Neal Katial (spelling??) former attorney general who wrote the regulation by which Mueller was appointed. Rachel asked bluntly what we should worry about, he said directly that the president can dismiss Mueller. That's what we should worry about.
It's repeated by Rather and another time when Rachel was quoting another source.
It sounds like the president can fire Mueller.
Glad to hear if there's an argument that contradicts those sources.

Both words mean, "I get what I want and to hell with your ideas."
