Three hours ago, via their FB page:

Received a two part message from John. The first part went into some of the horror stories of procurement, replacement and recovery but he ended it upbeat. Sounds like he's making great progress. Says he's going to go up to San Jose and purchase some additional equipment then he should be ready to install. And he says installation should be straightforward as the drive is pre-loaded and ready to go. The only thing he left off was the timing and I haven't heard back from him on that yet. Oops, he just responded to my question if we were going to be up today.. Said it depends on how many unexpected problems like he had yesterday pop up. Prayers up!

to get material? I guess they're in the one spot on earth that doesn't get overnight delivery.

I'd love to check out the set up. Probably runs on old AOL disks.

He thinks cause it sounds Mexican, none of the posters on his excuse of a message board will go looking for it there...too many fureners around for their taste, so that's where he stashes the cash he's grifted from them.

I haven't tried to fire it up, but the last time Dad turned it on, about thirty years ago, it booted just fine. The major problem was that the floppy drives wore out and he couldn't find any replacements. He bought a 286 as his upgrade from the Commodore. The occasion of testing it was when I gave him my old 486 and hauled off his old computers.

I also have the TI-99 that Dad bought for Mom. It is still in the box and has never been turned on.

I need to find a computer museum for these things.
