Republicans send in Howdy Gowdy to pinch hit...

...and he strikes out.

It was obvious that their strategy was to let Gowdy use his prosecutorial skills to attack John Brennan and to get him to admit that there was no collusion between Trump and the Russians or that it was nothing more than a witch hunt. Several Republicans on the Committee surrendered some of their time to Gowdy so he could pursue his attacks. He failed. They failed.

However, we could glean from their questioning that they still are standing behind Donald Trump and they do not believe there is anything more than a partisan witch hunt by the media and the Democrats. It is still a political stalemate.

I thought by now the party would be ready and willing to throw Trump under the bus

That so many want to ride this out, makes me wonder how bad things really are

again and go, "Eeep!" - and then it's back to whatever.

I simply cannot imagine that the entire GOP has been bought and paid for - I mean - "a lot" of them, maybe, sure, but 99.9% of them?? How could that logistically happen?

I swear, the only thing that makes any sense would be that, ohhhhh, there is kompromat on every. single. gopper....and that this coup has been in the works for ages and ages. But that, too, is - crazy.

Our minds really have to stretch forwards and sideways to try to comprehend this thing, hunh, left? Eeep!

2. The question is, if this treachery reached into the RNC and trickled down on all of them

What would be an apt punishment, as Americans who vote Republican would never cede power, even if proven to be treasonous sell-outs.

3. Good question.

I think it is up to the Democratic Party to expose almost the entire Republican Party as treasonous and anti-American. They care more about their Party than they do about our country and that point should be made, in my opinion.

4. That NY Repub. asked if Obama WH was directly involved in report and Brennan said no

The NY Repub woman asked a couple of questions obviously hoping Brennan would say Obama WH had been involved with the IC report but he shut her down by definitely saying no, that WH was not involved in directing or reviewing the findings until final IC report was provided to both Obama and Trump. Brennan made it clear that normal proper procedures were followed without any interference or direction from Obama's WH.

5. Whiff! Obama wasn't involved before the IC report was finalized foe one very good reason

The Obama administration has governmental experience, the people in the administration knew the rules, followed the rules, and didn't try to pressure or compromise the investigation. The Trump administration cannot say that any of that applies to them. They're so unfamiliar with how the government works, they don't even know they're breaking the rules most of the time.
