You guys wanna hear some GOOD news?

New York's 9th Assembly district had a special election when the Republican in the seat quit to take another job.

That district went for Trump 61-38% last year. The Republican who just left has been there since 2004 and last election won with 69%.

Christine Pellagrino is their new Democratic Assembly member who won with 58%

Could this be a trend?

I care because I suspect it's just BULLSHIT to tempt my last fiver out of my wallet on the fantasy notion that it's magically going to turn into FIVE fivers! It's like those "surveys" I get at least twice a month - asking the same inane questions, over and over. There's NEVER EVER any tabulation of the results of those surveys..... other than to count up the money that was provoked from contributor's purses and pockets.

At best, just beg for money to keep losing with. Don't try to play to my emotions to sucker me into emptying my coin purse! QUADRUPLE-matched! That could be some SERIOUS change in the end. And yet there's NEVER any accountability of it - it's only ON to the next deception.

Through the long (and sadly, fixed) charade that was the 2016 primaries, I coughed up two grand for a white-haired old gent that ran on integrity (Oh, OF COURSE! I know they ALL did - all spotless and sanitary-like! Sure! That's why DWS recused herself.) and I can't recall ONCE when a plea from his camp went out with the hocus-pocus of many-matched funds - or panderous surveys that were just a bad shell game of HEY! Open your wallet, dummy!

How many of you have given to Quist's or Ossoff's quests? Yeah, I LOVE having my intellect kicked in it's face. Send them a few bucks and sit back to receive the guilt trips that'll stuff you mailbox....... "QUADRUPLE MATCHED - if you send $3 dollars in the next 5 minutes!" "OMG! - ALL is lost! Have you SEEN how much we suspect the other side is POURING into our challenger's campaign???"
How long before we progress to SEXTUPLE-Matched? or Octuple-matched??? Just as soon as they sense you're out of steam for quadruple-matched. Just wait and see. OH! And send that 3 dollars before midnight. After midnight, the "matchmaker" turns into a pumpkin.

I've designated them as 'spam' now, so they're not jamming my inbox. I don't mind giving, and I give to many candidates, and it's a lot of money. I hate being treated like some low IQ sucker for my troubles, though. Just the other day I got a plea from Al Franken to donate to Quist. Okay, another donation for Quist, I thought. When they emailed the receipt I saw that Franken got half of the donation I thought was going to Quist alone! I don't mind giving to Al, I've given a LOT of money to him. I just thought it was a sneaky way to get more money for himself.

Boy, do we need campaign finance reform, or what?

The old "split it" donation wrangle. And AFTER you get fooled a few times, you start to really watch closely, how your generosity is tweaked. Yet, still , I find myself snookered. I don't like it!

And another thing to monitor is the repeat contributions phenomenon. Having given online for decades now, I've learned to pay attention to the details. I'm 72, but I'm conscious enough to know I'm not a dithering geriatric yet (and you KNOW the staffs of these folks LOVE to snag some less aware sorts with unintended monthly contributions option!). Clever how even tho Act Blue has already presented you the option of making your donation recurring - you get the blinking blue squares and the alert "Payment being processed" only to be asked again, if I wouldn't like to make it monthly.

And while we're at it, just how did the $3 dollar come-on get established? Or the $1 dollar one for that matter. OK, 3 bucks, sure, less than a drink at ManyBucks - I can do that! Then you're taken to a screen where 3 bucks (or one) aren't anywhere to be seen amongst the suggested donation amounts - the least usually being $5. There's a WAY less than subtle sly-cology being used here. And then they want us to support them because of their honesty and integrity!

Citizen participation by voting is the basis of our democracy. By not voting, Americans give two votes to the person they don't agree with. This looks like it may be a turning point, however, doing everything we can to register voters, drive them to the polls and even helping pay for the ID they may need to register must be continuing projects. The other side never gives up and neither should we!

Every seat must be contested as these criminals, and any elected official not opposing this treasonous administration with every fiber of his or her being is complicit, must be driven from power as the damage they are doing to our democracy and the people's welfare is is incalculable.

New Hampshire Democrats flipped a state House seat in a district that Donald Trump won by 7% in 2016. No Democrat had ever won the district before, and the victory is the first seat in the country at any level to flip from red to blue after the election of Trump.

Saladino was elected as Town of Oyster Bay supervisor in January.

If the reporting is accurate, I'm not sure I've seen voter turnout this low. I'll take it.

Her main issue is education. Makes sense considering she has been an elementary school teacher for over a decade.

There were quite a number of local and state offices flipped in Republican areas in Illinois. We may be a blue state, but there are rural areas and suburban areas where republicans expect to win. Their turnout was low in a lot of those local races. Democrats won, in many cases where there had not been Democrats in office for a long, long time.

GOTV, people, even where they cheat and suppress the vote. We can do this. We have the numbers.

No Democrat ran, but the very liberal Independent slammed the Republican candidate by almost 2-to-1 margin. That despite my only seeing a few lawn signs for her and 5 or 6 of the Republican candidates' supporters at the major intersection in town every day for two weeks for hours on end.

So maybe, hopefully, yes. This is a trend.
