GOP loves deflection & projection. They showed how good at these defense mechs during Iran-Contra. Loyalty to StRonnie allowed him to escape deserved prosecution. How loyal are Trump's pals? Leaks from WH show not all staff thinks he should be new Teflon Don, but how willing to fall on their swords are the Cabinet & close advisors? (I say Bannon & Priebus are too self-serving.) Probably a good vet that Trump will readily point fingers at others to deflect from his narcissistic ads his demand for loyalty isn't always a 2-way street.
GOP leaders fell in line after he won election, but we all know they're just putting party before country and would prefer Pence as POTUS. So will they abandon Trump & hope Pence escapes the close examination he warrants?
Here's to hoping that the history that repeats this time is closer to 1973 than 1980s...

(613 posts)Reagan was sainted by an intentional PR effort by the right. Progressives and average Americans hurt by his tax cuts failed to push back on those falsehoods while we all knew Reagan had paid Iran to hold US prisoners for political advantage.
So it's up to us. Do we let the right lie this time, or do we do better at communication?

(4,450 posts)he was (or could be) outwardly charming. He conducted himself with decorum, respected custom, and was generally well-mannered.
TRUMP is an ill-mannered, boorish jerk. He's hated by so many around him. I think he's going down.

(1,622 posts)...neither he nor his staff are anywhere near as smart or capable as Reagan's was.
That aside though, we've still got to keep the spotlight burning bright on these scumbags...
