Slouching through the night on a mission of murder, Salman Abedi betrays no emotion in new images released by Manchester police last night. The Manchester suicide bomber was caught by CCTV cameras on the night he killed 22 people, the unfastened straps of the rucksack containing his home-made bomb faintly visible against his zipped-up quilted jacket.
There is no trace of concern on Abedis face, no hint of nerves at the atrocity he is about to commit. In his trainers and baseball cap he might be heading out for a pizza, yet somewhere in that padded jacket, he is concealing a detonator that will bring terror to a pop concert packed with children.
The images were published with a police appeal for information about Abedis movements from the 18th May, when he returned to the UK after a visit to Libya, to the moment last Monday night that he exploded his device.
Police believe that one of the last places Abedi visited was a city centre flat where he may have completed the assembly of his shrapnel-packed bomb before heading off to the Manchester Arena. It was revealed last night that police were able to identify Abedi as the bomber within two hours of the attack; they have since arrested 13 people on suspicion of terror-related offences. The investigation is making good progress, said Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins.

If you are going to cause all sorts of carnage, at least verify who is responsible and target them

is someone wearing a "polar vest" in 65F weather (from about 9pm to midnight)
not impossible... but worthy of keeping an eye on such a person.
Ironic that his vest also has a white dove of peace symbol.
