(31,261 posts)US military bases may be important for the town they are near, but not remotely important to Germany economically. Strategically, the bases ARE important for Germans and our country. We route a lot of our military activity worldwide through those bases. But you are right, I doubt that Germans will act impulsively and kick our troops out of their country.

The German per capita GDP is $42,000.00.
They aren't going to kick us out at the moment but it has nothing to do with money.

(4,533 posts)Our retaliation could be extremely expensive. But privately, hidden in vague discretion? I'm sure we are already being sanctioned. Airbus or Boeing? If it's a close call most would prefer Airbus.

That said, I wouldn't doubt that they are trying to figure out how to kick the US out of the G7 and are holding the secret, real G6 conferences this week.
