(101,730 posts)My father (WWII vet) has been gone nearly three decades now, but I know how badly this would upset him.
What the hell did they fight and die for, if a single man can so corrupt democracy in a mere 3 months?

(7,410 posts)They know all about Trumpy's love affair with Putin, AND they support it. Why? Because the entire GOP leadership also receives Russian money. They don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

I'm sure many of them would support Trump's diss of Germany due to their extraordinarily limited understanding of the world order.

(7,410 posts)I don't think so. Trumpy's dismissal of the EU/NATO has unintended consequences. Merkel sees what's happening, and Europe may, indeed, tighten their cohesion in response to being abandoned by Trumpy. Another poster suggested that the UK may rescind it's "Brexit" vote BECAUSE of Trumpy's dismissal of Europe and his alliance with Putin and Russia. I think that's right.

That is big, regardless of whatever responses the EU takes.

(18,745 posts)Unless our Congress shows it has the will to do something about Trump, the rest of the Western World needs to start building their own alliances and increasing their military budgets. Because the US is surely going to align with Russia against them under Trump.
Trump has phased away 70 years of good will in 4 months.

it makes me depressed as hell. It's also leaves us in more dangerwhen this madman fool feels diminished, he can act out with North Korea and in the South China Sea.
Maybe some of the billionaires that back him will start to pressure the Repugs because this creature is bad for business, bad for tourism, etc.
