They are legion. Some are quite prolific and are capable of writing in clear, concise English. However, few are legitimate sources of accurate news, unless they are affiliated with reliable news organizations.
Here's my rule for interpreting Twitter tweets from twits: I go at once to Google News and search for what they have tweeted. If a tweet that purports to be news is real, there will be Google News of it. If not, I will wait and search Google News again some time later, to see if there is Google News of it.
If there is no Google News of it after several attempts, I will write off that twit on Twitter and not pay any attention to further tweets from that individual.
Now, mind you, that is just my practice. Others may have different ways of judging Twitter twits' tweets.

(146,192 posts)It does a good job of finding them, and includes a wide range of news websites in its searches. It's the fastest way to find what is being published at many media outlets. I don't go to the Google News home page. I just search on Google, and then click News to see what my search has turned up.

Twitter is a major source of discussion and communication for millions. It's free-flowing, and most useful for links to breaking news - often offered by the actual writers and individuals involved.
The main benefit of twitter and tweets is the links to substantive things. Most users understand that the one-liners serve as headlines or intros to whatever they link to in the tweet.
Properly set up, following only those sources that you trust and are truly informative, your twitter feed can serve as your own personal google for leading or breaking news. Your twitter page can read like a personalized news reference. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHO YOU CHOOSE TO 'FOLLOW'
Many, many prescient and revealing statements have been introduced and highlighted on Twitter. Sometimes you get comments about news events, sometimes comments and a link to what they're referring to. Sometimes you get a relevant pic or a pic of an official statement.
Google news is a rw cesspool, period. It's basically a one-way, dead end for news and information.
