'Oswald was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and defected to the Soviet Union in October 1959. He lived in the Belarusian city of Minsk until June 1962, at which time he returned to the United States with Marina, his Russian-born wife, eventually settling in Dallas.'

We had a cold war. Nothing new with the Ruskies. And Oswald (IIRC) actually renounced his citizenship and lived in the Soviet Union for a while.

I thought it was common knowledge.

Well, to stick up for a younger generation, I didn't know about a lot of stuff that happened in the years before I was born. I was in my 40s before I found out that Eisenhower spoke out against the military industrial complex. I was in my 20s before I heard a Buddy Holly song. These are just a couple examples.

No, we can't know all of history when young or ever, but JFK and 11/22/63 was kind of a big deal.

There's no evidence whatsoever that Trump has any connection to Marina Oswald (Porter), who is now a U.S. citizen and lives in Texas.

Khrushchev actually cried when he found out JFK was killed. At least the Russians didn't kill Khrushchev. They removed him from power and pensioned him off with an apartment and a dacha.

He lived on until 1971.

His memoirs were smuggled out and he became very disenchanted with the Soviet system.

the Soviets were involved in spreading rumours of conspiracy, though (the KGB secretly funded the publication of one of the early books claiming that the assassination was a conspiracy; their goal was to destabilise the US by undermining American trust in government).

put the Cubans behind the assassination

They hated Kennedy, and were crazy enough to pull this off

By that time, the Soviet Union was a conservative bureaucracy. Though Lee harvey Osawald was nuts, wanted nothing to do with a lone nut.

Fitted Castro's purposes perfectly

All CT of course

as well as the aftermath, including the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald, the arrest of Jack Ruby, and the Warren Commission. All these years and all the investigations and conspiracy theories later, I still think Oswald acted alone. But Oliver Stone's movie "JFK," while based on a nutty premise, is really entertaining.

What if they financed the 9/11 hijackers? What if they manipulated the war on terror? Maybe I need to turn off my tin foil hat, but these questions I've had running through my head since the election.

Some people have argued that the warren commission report was a whitewash not because Earl Warren, etc. Were "in on it" but because they feared digging too deep might lead to nuclear war.

historical events are accurate.

In the afterword of his book he details all of this, and comes to the conclusion:

"....... but in the end came to believe---reluctantly---that the stodgy ole Warren Commission was right Oswald acted alone.

It is very, very difficult for a reasonable person to believe otherwise. Occam's Razor--the simplest explanation is usually the right one"

The Soviets, the CIA, the Mafia, some people even pinned it on LBJ..

Out of all of them, the Mafia would be the most likely, but it would have been considered extremely risky. I read a book t by Sam Giancana's nephew. Giancana took credit for it, but I took it with a grain of salt. (The same book claimed that Sam had Marilyn Monroe murdered with a phenobarb suppository, so that they could steal her diary because it said a bunch of incriminating stuff about the mob)

I think Giancana's nephew was just trying to make a buck selling books.

But there has to be a reason that he was swiftly killed by Jack Ruby. Somebody (and I don't claim to have any idea who) else had to be pushing the buttons and pulling the levers.

Most of the people who would have wanted Kennedy dead were smart enough to know that killing him would not have benefited them.

The Russians knew that Johnson would become president. What good would it do them?

I think Oswald acted alone.
