Authorities: Stabbings suspect bragged in patrol car

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man charged with fatally stabbing two men and injuring a third who tried to shield young women from an anti-Muslim tirade appeared to brag about the attacks as he sat in the back of a police patrol car, saying "that's what liberalism gets you," according to court documents.

The probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday offers the most complete official account to date of the events that unfolded Friday on a light-rail car packed with commuters eager to get home for the Memorial Day weekend.

Jeremy Joseph Christian, the man arrested in the stabbings, shouted "You call it terrorism! I call it patriotism!" and "Death to the enemies of America!" as he made his first appearance in the case Tuesday. Christian, 35, did not enter a plea and has another court date June 7.

Defense attorney Gregory Scholls did not return a call for comment after the hearing.

Yes, he did get fed Burger King while in custody after several hours while they were waiting for the Feds to come pick him up. But guess what, when a suspect is in custody they have to be fed or a defense lawyer can, among other things, claim mistreatment and violation or rights and that can have consequences like getting voluntary statements or confessions thrown out and ruled inadmissible.

So he had to be fed. He couldn't be put in regular jail population to eat with them, so the quickest and easiest thing for them to do would be go grab a $5 value meal. Now no later claims to mistreatment or violations or his rights for withholding food can be put forth to get all the statements of guilt he was voluntarily giving thrown out.

That $5 value meal helped ensure all the statements he made during that time were free to be used against him in court and help ensure his conviction.

To twist that into them somehow rewarding him is either a sign of deep ignorance or irrational hatred of cops to the point that you will twist every action in the most unfavorable light.

I've had no words to describe what happened. There ARE no words to describe this depth of insanity. Hate and evil with no conscience, no empathy, disgusting piece of garbage. Approved, of course, by the groups who encouraged this act, including the current White House resident, who as you may remember, was the cover boy on a KKK mag in 2016.

I've watched the pile of flowers at the train station grow day by day, and I'm grateful to those hundreds, or now it looks like thousands, who have poured out their hearts to the victims and their families.
