A leading UK politician told Sky News that US President Donald Trump could be making a surprise visit to the UK this week.

Trump, who will be in Europe for the annual G20 Summit in Hamburg, has a four day gap in his schedule before he heads off to Paris for Bastille Day.

At the G20 Summit, Trump is slated to meet with Theresa May, President Xi of China, Mexican President Pena Nieto, President Abe of Japan, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.Some speculate that Trump may be using his four-day window to visit his golf course in Scotland.

Rumors surfaced last month that Trump was scheduled to visit the UK but that his visit was cancelled amid political turmoil in London and fears that the US president would be greeted by mass protests.The White House said last month that Trump did not discuss a trip to Britain with Theresa May in their most recent telephone call, with officials denying plans had changed.

Thousands of people rallied in Hamburg on Sunday to protest at next week's G20 summit, where US President Donald Trump is make his maiden appearance at the forum of major economies.
