A reasonable estimate for what the future holds:
* Whenever the next democratic President does something controversial, the Republicans will attack him.
The Democrats will say "Trump did worse".
The Republicans will say "Trump was special, Trump doesn't count."
The media will say "both sides do it" and the current democratic President should really try harder to be more presidential to repair the damage caused by Trump.
* "After the controversial and partisan era of Trump, what this country really needs is more bipartisanship. The democratic President should stop being so god-awful partisan and share his power with the Republicans."
* 20 years from now, the Republicans will blame the Liberals for making Trump President.
"You Liberals were so hostile, you practically forced us to vote for Trump! We had no choice! You forced our hand! You brought Trump into power!"
Followed by the usual claims that the most recent republican President wasn't a REAL Republican.
