The latest batch of Windows "updates" completely hosed my PC.
And the first person who tells me "you shoulda bought a Mac" will get a wireless mouse jammed in their auxiliary input.

The daily BSOD's have become weekly, so what they say about collecting info about the crash info may be true.

(146,241 posts)What Windows version? What build? Before going farther, that info is essential, along with info on your system, internet speed and bandwidth and descriptions of any install failures that were reported.
With that info, we could begin to try to offer some help. Without it, it's like you telling us your car won't start and expecting detailed instructions for fixing it.

(17,564 posts)and how much I should tip for a TLS Handshake.
MineralMan
(146,241 posts)I know what TLS handshake is, but is that something some remote tech wants to establish with you?
Again, you are not providing enough information for any useful answer to be offered. We're trying to help, but we know next to nothing about your problem. Try again with some information.

(17,129 posts)He would deduce that the OS is Win10. The user obviously has auto updates turned on. That's where we are at. Win 10. Hint in 'latest' updates.
Sherlock would also wonder why interned speed and bandwidth are relevant to the question. He would correctly surmise that they are not. He would also deduce from the lack of sophistication of the enquiry that the user probably would not know how to access logs.
See, easy ain't it?

I did a quick google; if there is a something wrong with the Update it's usually pretty newsy. Then an hotfix is announced. Nothing of note at the moment.
Will your machine load the operating system?

(21,027 posts)I just got a new windows 10 pc and it was the easiest set up I ever had. I just had to get used to using the app environment. Do a system restore to get your computer back to when it's working then shut off automatic updates.

(111,106 posts)and later updates have corrected it. Worst one was the one that had all but the 2 left and right mouse buttons inoperative. Took them over a month to correct that one.
All of us who were "offered" Win 10 or just plain tricked into accepting it have basically been beta testing it, IMO, and they're still feeling their way through trying to perfect it.

I had to take my laptop to the tech nerds at work - it was a part of that latest Windows 10 update that just would NOT go through
Mac, if you need me to ask them exactly what they did, I will see them again this weekend
