Some good ones.

Interesting to see that the United one hit sexism hard. Good. Just hope the attendant is in the trouble she deserves. and that the mother (a school teacher!) uses some of her settlement money for assertiveness training.

the doctor dragged off the plane in Chicago, and since he was Asian and she is Asian, so she feared that would increase her chances of being beaten, I don't think assertiveness is what she needed. I am incredibly assertive, but I would not make waves if I honestly believed, as she clearly did, that doing so might get me badly beaten--especially if I had a young child with me.

What she needed--what we all need--is confidence that asserting reasonable rights as a paying customer of the airline would not lead to a severe beating!

One person brutalized, or even a dozen, among the WELL OVER A MILLION WHO FLEW UNITED IN THE LAST YEAR, is a piss poor reason to subject her little son to 3 hours on her lap when he should have been playing and sleeping there and on his own seat, and taking off and landing with seat belt in place.

It's unlikely she suffers from pathological timidity, you know. She's able to hold a job that requires dealing with a certain variety of situations and she was traveling alone. The silliness and stupidity that arise from profound ignorance, and from just plain not thinking, are much more likely contributors to her behavior. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if she was a trumpster.

But while I'm shooting, what about that man? He's not innocent. Just when did he realize he was very much part of abusing this woman and child, and did he ever offer to take the child to give her a break? Or did neither ever occur to him? Maybe he just resented having to sit with a child next to him for 3 hours. Many do.

In any case, the child's the only innocent here. All three adults created this situation and all failed him.
