This last weekend I spent a considerable amount of time on YouTube watching previous interactions with Putin and Obama. While the news all weekend was discussing, my mind kept wondering back to a picture I will never forget. The ones of Obama and Putin coming face to face at the 2016 G20 summit.
This was after we had learned that Russia had meddled in our elections. Obama looked at him like an adversary. It was stern, it was forceful. It wasn't friendly.
Then we see the first handshake between Trump and Putin this morning, (on repeat).
Trump was smiling, he looked friendly. His handshake wasn't forceful or aggressive. But that's the thing. We've all seen countless videos of Trump's infamous aggressive handshake, you know the one he does to exert authority.
The thing that sticks out most to me is Trump is a bully and in countless clips we've seen his overly-aggressive handshake, but with Putin, he's Mr. Friendly. I'd ask why that is, but I think that we all know the answer.
