CNN: Trump's State Dept. Grants U.S. Visas to 150 Russian Spies

No wonder Putin wants those compounds back...
From CNN:
Since the November election, US intelligence and law enforcement agencies have detected an increase in suspected Russian intelligence officers entering the US under the guise of other business, according to multiple current and former senior US intelligence officials. The Russians are believed to now have nearly 150 suspected intelligence operatives in the US, these sources said. Officials who spoke to CNN say the Russians are replenishing their ranks after the US in December expelled 35 Russian diplomats suspected of spying in retaliation for election-meddling.
"The concerning point with Russia is the volume of people that are coming to the US. They have a lot more intelligence officers in the US" compared to what they have in other countries, one of the former intelligence officials says.
...
Fueling law enforcement officials' concern is that the Russians are targeting people in the US who can provide access to classified information, in addition to ongoing efforts to hack the US government for intelligence, according to several of the officials. In some cases, Russian spies have tried to gain employment at places with sensitive information as part of their intelligence-gathering efforts, the sources say.
But that hasn't stopped the State Department from issuing the temporary duty visas also known as TDY to the suspected Russian intelligence officers. US intelligence officials who spoke to CNN expressed concerns about the number of temporary visas the State Department has issued to Russian travelers...
Of course, as CEO of Exxon, Tillerson frequently acted against U.S. interests, but this is ridiculous. Just think how many ways 150 spies could rat-f&$k the 2018 midterm elections, and every election thereafter.
Its hard not to see this as a treasonous crime in progress. Trump and the Russians are STILL colluding!
Good luck and Godspeed, Robert Mueller the fate of the nation is in your hands.

(7,016 posts)Is being in power the most important thing to these a-holes ? They have shown they can't or don't want to govern. Is it money ? Are they just sociopaths ? What will it take to get them to care about America ?

(22,976 posts)Sure, it's #45's shitty crack about Mexicans, but it's good to re-purpose trash whenever possible.
But yes, with each passing day, it looks more and more like the U.S. has undergone a coup by organized crime, Russian-style. Putin is no doubt as mobbed-up as any New Jersey boss, or more so.

(3,922 posts)We can rant all we want - for now; the fact is we're seriously screwed and things are only getting worse.
We're waiting on Mueller, like we waited on Fitzgerald but it'll take a massive, almost revolutionary, movement to unseat these usurpers.
Every department has been taken over by people whom appear too incompetent for even the most entry-level position. This is all by design, power is concentrated on top and at least liberally shared by the Russians.
Twitter (as most of us all know) is popping with accounts of stories yet to come - the WP is "holding a story" at Mueller's request, for example. It's all nonsense, the reality is what we see and experience everyday - this is not going away anytime soon.
A big marker will be the 2018 elections. If republicans are still the majority after that, it's time to get the hell out of here.

(37,648 posts)Once you get the hacking downpat, with the President's help, and you have a Russian President (Trump), who stuffs his cabinet and administration with Russian-friendly people, then you need to start bringing in Russian citizens. Visas to start off with.
What's the next step to take over?
Judges. If I were Russia, I'd want to get some Russian-friendly judges. The Russian President Trump can appoint some, quite a few. But we'd need more.
We'll funnel funding to some local ones to run, hack those elections if necessary. We've already got Trump naming federal judges, and we have one Supreme Court Justice.
We now need....Senators and federal Representatives. We'll have to hack some of those elections that are coming up in 2018.
That's a good start. That's what I'd do, if I were Putin and wanted to finish America off.
