Los Angeles Minimum Wage Rises to 12 Dollars

Its part of a plan to raise to 15 by 2020. The entire state is going to do it but los angeles will just do it faster.

I wonder if places like costco and in n out will raise their pay to keep good employees.

Since LA is so much about location is also not a matter of business just moving to another place to avoid it.

If you take the cost of living into consideration when applying a minimum wage (or a subsidy amount for the ACA) you will see that it's not as great as it sounds. Minimum wage should a factor and calculated into determining a minimum wage based on individual cities. I live in a city where gas, utilities, food, housing, insurance, taxes, etc are 30% higher than the average American city. My yearly salary is the same as in other cities therefore I make far less than people living in a different city.
