What if, at the Trump Tower meeting with the Kremlin/Prevezon attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, they were discussing FIXING THE $230 MILLION RUSSIAN MONEY-LAUNDERING CASE AGAINST PREVEZON? In exchange for doing some little favors for DT.
That is, what if Jr. promised that his dad would go easy on Prevezon if he was elected with Russian help?
That would be worse. And there is circumstantial EVIDENCE.
1) Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Kremlin attorney Don Jr. met with in the Tower, ALSO REPRESENTS PREVEZON.
2) Three days after the meeting, Julian Assange announced he'd be publishing more Hillary emails -- and we know now where he got them.
3) Among the first things DT did after taking office was FIRE PREET BHARARA, the US attorney who was prosecuting the money-laundering case against Prevezon.
4) The Prevezon case, which had been years in the making (and was supposed to feature a star witness who survived being thrown out of a 4th floor window) was UNEXPECTEDLY SETTLED in May -- for a surprisingly low amount and in a way that didn't require the admission of guilt.
Why was such a strong case settled on such favorable terms to Prevezon? Did Trump's Justice Dept, headed by Jeff Sessions, have anything to do with this?
Is that what Jr. was discussing in his meeting with Prevezon's attorney? Is it likely that Prevezon's dedicated attorney would NOT have brought up the subject of her client's upcoming trial in a special, private meeting with the son of the GOP nominee?
Knowing that Veselnitskaya represented Prevezon, I googled for links between Prevezon and DT, and found this interesting piece from May, about the surprising settlement the government reached with Prevezon. The author added an update yesterday. I bet we'll be hearing a lot more from him.

UPDATE July 8th: The New York Times is reporting that on June 9th, 2016, Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr. met a lawyer for Prevezon-head Denis Katsyv named Natalia Veselnitskaya, an anti-Magnitsky Act crusader and the wife of a close colleague of her clients father, in Trump Tower, a meeting arranged by Donald Jr.
AMMAN THE TRIAL was set to begin in three days, a mammoth trial a decade in the making, one of international intrigue, massive money laundering, the biggest tax fraud in Russian history, posh Manhattan real estate, powerful Russians with connections to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the murder two people and attempted murder a third, each victim gathering evidence against the Russians. But, instead, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York submitted a letter on May 12th, 2017, to the presiding judge, William H. Pauley, III, stating that the government had reached a settlement with the defendants, after his predecessor, Preet Bharara, had spent three-and-a-half years building his case.

U.S. federal prosecutors just wont let go of their three-year-old criminal action against alleged beneficiaries of stolen and laundered Russian taxpayer money.
It was launched as part of whats known as the Magnitsky Affair, a contentious story of scandal, cover-ups and smear campaigns that dates back more than a decade. Over the years, the Kremlin has used every tool it can, including the fate of Russian orphans who might be adopted by Americans, as it tries to thwart calls for justice from the U.S. Congress and the administration.
So far, the Kremlin has failed. (Who knows what will happen if theres a Trump presidency?)

Had he not been fired by Trump, Bharara would now be leading this this case, too, and almost exactly two months from the day he was fired, the U.S. government, with his acting replacement acting in his stead, settled with a whimper a case stretching back a decade. It was a case U.S. had been building for close to four years and one in which one key lawyer working against Russian interests, Sergei Magnitsky, was murdered, and in which another lawyer working against the Kremlin on behalf of Magnitskys family, NIKOLAI GOROKHOV, was thrown out of his fourth-story Moscow apartment window on March 21st of this year, just one day before a major Russian court appearance concerning the same crimes (such accidents are not uncommon with Putin critics); Gorokhov suffered severe head injuries and is apparently still hospitalized; he had provided key evidence for Bharara's prosecution team and was set to be a star witness in the trial that was to start today, May 15th. Unsurprisingly, Bharara and his team were actually very concerned that something exactly like this would happen to Gorokhov and submitted a formal letter expressing that concern to the presiding judge back in October 2015.
My head feels like it's gonna explode with all this...

I added that detail to the OP because it might refresh a lot of memories about which company Prevezon is.
And isn't it curious that Junior would meet with Prevezon's attorney months before Preet Bahara was fired?
Blue_Roses
(12,894 posts)isn't it? Big chunks of pieces just tie the little strands together. I cannot imagine what Mueller and his team think of this. I would love to be a fly on that wall. And still so much not known or verified, but with the big pieces falling into place, it's only a matter of time.

(8,201 posts)"New York (CNN)A Russian lawyer investigating an alleged $230 million money-laundering scheme nearly died in March after he fell from his fourth floor apartment in Moscow.
It's unclear what caused the fall, but more than a year earlier, American prosecutors had feared that someone would try to "threaten or harm" that man, Nikolai Gorokhov, according to a recently unsealed federal court document.
American investigators are preparing for a trial in May that will examine how stolen Russian cash allegedly made its way into New York City real estate, and Gorokhov, 53, was to be a witness.
The court document shows that US investigators had "strong concerns that... individuals in Russia could attempt to threaten or harm Mr. Gorokhov and his family in an effort to prevent Mr. Gorokhov from testifying at trial."

Were they investors in the pharmaceutical company, and were they liable for the torts damages?
There must be more to this story.

(108,975 posts)From the link in the OP:
Enter Russian Denis Katsyv, the essential head of a Cyprus-based apparent real estate company Prevezon Holdings, which was one of the beneficiaries of the $230 million Russian tax scheme. In charges filed by Preet Bharara in a lengthy complaint submitted in September, 2013 (and in the complaints two amendments in November, 2014, and October of 2015), the U.S. affirmed Magnitskys findings and accused Prevezon of receiving through a convoluted series of transactions involving shell companies at least (roughly) $2 million (possibly more) of the $230 million of Russian scam money, some of which Prevezon then laundered through the purchase of luxury Manhattan real estate properties, partly because, as Ive described before, America has famously lax regulations on money laundering through real estate. Among those who would end up helping Bharara with his case against Prevezons money laundering was Bill Browder.

BUT EVEN IF IT DIDN'T, Prevezon's lawyer could have struck a deal with DT: "We'll give you dirt on Hillary and help you win if you fix this nasty little case we have. So unfair. Putin would really appreciate it if you could fix this little problem for us. IF you are elected."

(108,975 posts)The more I think about this, the more likely it seems. Prevezon was Natalia's biggest case. Why should she pass up an opportunity to discuss it with the President's son? We're supposed to believe she came to talk about Russian orphans?
And then Assange making his announcement about the new Hillary leak three days later . . .

(4,734 posts)She wasn't there trying to get Russian adoptions going again. Don Jr is lying his ass off. She was there trying to get her corrupt Russian company off the hook. And she was ready to bribe the Trumps to get it done.

It's as clear as day.
