MSNBC's Halperin: Trump Jr. 'in a world of hurt'

BY JOE CONCHA - 07/10/17 08:27 AM EDT

MSNBC's Mark Halperin said Donald Trump Jr. "is in a world of hurt" after a New York Times report on Sunday disclosed the president's eldest son had a meeting with a Russian lawyer that has ties to the Kremlin after being promised damaging information about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in June of 2016.

&quot Trump Jr.) was forced to change his story by seemingly what The New York Times was able to learn," Halperin said on "Morning Joe" on Monday. "Whoever is helping The New York Times with these stories seems to be doing it in a way like maximum damage on at least Donald Trump Jr.

"Even if you accept his Sunday version. Accept his Sunday version, ask no questions, have no suspicions, he is in a world of hurt," Halperin concluded.

The Times report noted that the Trump Jr. meeting at Trump Tower with lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya "represent(s) the first public indication that at least some in the campaign were willing to accept Russian help." Trump Jr. confirmed to the Times he had met Veselnitskaya at the request of an acquaintance; he denied that he received any information on Clinton.

3. What a strange phrase

The emphasis seems to be on Jr.'s emotional well-being and not on the criminality of his actions.

Mark Haperin seemed to be talking about Junior's legal position. This is why he made the point that even if you believe Junior's latest explanation for the questionable meeting, it opens the door to collusion with a foreign power.

Donald Trump, Jr., as well as Jared Kushner, are going to find themselves in some pretty hot seats as these investigations move forward.

However, if you're correct that Mr. Halperin was referring to Junior's personal state of mind, fuck Junior. I hope he's having a sad. A big one.

I am at work and read only the Opening message.
Junior should be concerned about legal situation. The rest of the cabal should also be worried.

MSNBC senior political analyst Mark Halperin was suspended on Thursday by the cable network after he called President Obama “a dick” on a popular morning show and then quickly apologized.

“I thought he was a kind of a dick yesterday,” Halperin, who also is an editor at large for Time, said on “Morning Joe,” referring to the president’s conduct during his press conference.

15. We need a timeline

I want to see the news channels start piecing together detailed timelines. Something to relate all of these events to when damaging info about Hillary got released. It's obvious the Trump campaign was working with those who released info at least on the timing of releases. These meetings and others, coupled with Trump asking them to hack for him publicly are damning. But we need the news to start tying it all together.

like Rachel Maddow can string it together in a way that can be understood. Given that Americans have Faux flea brain attention spans, it isn't easy to get the whole picture out there. I'm hoping Mueller and his folks are putting together wall-sized charts as we speak. It's all related - The Trump Criminal Cabal.
