No, Sarah Huckabee, It's Not The "Democrat National Committee."

Last edited Tue Jul 11, 2017, 02:15 PM - Edit history (3)

Can we just stipulate in advance that anybody who refers to...

The Democrat Party
The Democrat National Committe
The Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee
The Democrat Party base
A Democrat Party Congress etc.

has immediately proven themselves to be a complete idiot, and need not be listened to any further? This whole thing of calling the Democratic Party the 'Democrat Party' started with Rush Limbaugh, and if you repeat his mistake it just identifies you as one of his brainless dittohead followers.

Of course, one of the many reasons they do this is because they can't stand the idea that the Party name has a positive adjective like 'democratic' in it. As a result, some try to remove the word 'democratic' from the Party name by calling it 'The DemocRAT Party,' and others have gone the other way, and tried to denigrate the word 'democracy.' Dipshit Rand Paul wrote a pathetic op-ed piece attempting to explain that the United States is a 'republic' and NOT a 'democracy.' The Republican base (at least those who actually read) embraced that, of course. "Republic-an GOOD....DemocRATic BAD..."

We all know, however, that a republic is one of many forms that a democratic government can take. Saying that the United States is a republic and not a democracy is like saying that trucks are made of STEEL, not METAL. Idiots.

UPDATE: maxrandb (below) made a brilliant suggestion. We can now start calling the Republican Party the RUSSIAN PARTY. And the RNC the RUSSIAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE.

I LOVE IT!

To emphasize the word RAT in Democrat.

The people who do this "secretly" convey to other like minded people they hate democRATS- have no respect for democRATS - and can't stand the ground democRATS walk on.

The second "hidden" message is that they rat-fuck democRATS seeking to derail them - fuck them up - each and every chance they get.

Marginalize, obliterate, and annihilate is the intent of this juvenile delinquent's political game.

Refer to themselves either as Randolph County Democrats or Democrat Party of Randolph County. I asked them about this and they said it's correct and intentional. In fact the local paper here constantly refers to them as the Democrat Party.

14. "Democratic" is the adjective form,
Tue Jul 11, 2017, 07:21 AM
Jul 2017

and that adjective describes the noun "party".

"Republican", "conservative", and "liberal" can all function as either nouns or adjectives, and therein lies the difference.

While the framing is disrespectful and incorrect, it is useful for identifying concern trolls.

As soon as I hear someone say it, I automatically tune them out as I know what they agenda is. Unfortunately, it started out as an intentional misuse of the word, but now for many it is an unconscious habit.

and told me that I was buying into a Republican meme when I said that, and that I should say "I am a member of the Democratic party."

So for the slower, let's be clear: Democrat is a noun. It's ok to be used as a noun. I AM a proud Democrat. But if you use Democrat as an adjective (Democrat party, Democrat base) it's a ridiculous and childish Republican dog whistle.

Personally I don't care that much to spend my energy being angry at it when they do it. I find it more of an eyeroll offense. But I DO take offense when a DU poster tells me that I am buying into a right wing meme when I say I am a proud Democrat.

the tactic has several goals, but mainly their hope is to goad democrats into correcting their grammar. people love to hate "grammar nazis" and democrats are in a pickle if it's left unchallenged because it's hard to counter without coming across as schoolmarmy.

but this is one of those easy, truly *objective* facts that the media could very easily step in and correct.

why on earth wouldn't the moderator or news anchor or media someone step in and correct them, and indeed, chide them for their mistake? a moderator, in theory, should at a minimum keep people addressing each other in a respectful manner.

so, whenever this happens, whoever is covering the story should be saying, at a minimum "of course, ms. huckabee got the name wrong, it's the democrat*ic* national committee."

the media's job is to report facts, so they can correct facts like this without taking a hit.

but no, the media almost never corrects this, allowing the republicans to score an easy jab.
