Republicans Are Actually Trying To Lower The Minimum Wage, State By State

Displaying their full ignorance about economics, Republicans in several states are working on legislation to repeal local minimum wage increases, effectively taking money away from low income earners. These are the people who spend virtually all of their earnings, and they are the people who truly drive the economy. Republicans want to take that power away from them. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

While most people in the country are either distracted by Donald Trump’s tweets, or distracted by the ongoing saga over Republicans attempting to strip 23 million Americans of their health care insurance. Republican controlled states all over this country are actually trying to lower the minimum wage that businesses can pay their employees.

Specifically, when we look at the state of Missouri the city of St. Louis had passed an ordinance raising the minimum wage in that one area to $10 an hour. Well, Republicans within the state assembly were unhappy about that, so they decided to pass a law saying that no state, no municipality in the state of Missouri can raise their minimum wage and therefore, that minimum wage in St. Louis that had just been raised at $10 an hour was immediately dropped back down to the state level of $7.70 an hour.

More businesses, especially the small ones can hire more people. With that tho, poorer, sicker, and more depressed cause we all know they won't be able to afford health insurance with trumpdon't care and other necessaries such as food and lodging, travel and other pertinent expenses because we all know that the GOPers will be taking away government assistants.
