All you need is wifi and a computer or phone.
There are several websites where you can stream either MSNBC or CNN. I tap into the wifi at work and stream MSNBC on my phone during the day which savee my streaming useage on my phone plan. At home, I stream it either on my computer or on my phone.
I got rid of my cable months ago and only realized that you could find free streaming sites for MSNBC and CNN>
