Scarborough announces he's leaving the GOP
By Jacqueline Thomsen - 07/11/17 07:38 PM EDT

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough is leaving the Republican Party, the "Morning Joe" host and former GOP congressman announced Tuesday night.

"I am a Republican, but I'm not going to be a Republican anymore," Scarborough said during an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

The former Florida GOP congressman said he was going to become an Independent.

His announcement comes after President Trump launched an attack on Scarborough and “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski in late June.

Becuas like many GOP, he will try to take over our ship.

Who am i kidding though? The Centre wing is probably already getting him a box of Cigars and Champagne for Mika, especially if they get to starve out one of those annoying "liberals."

he's still gonna be promoting Republican politicians, peddling Republican policy ideas, queuing up Republican guests and pouring the same old snark on Democrats. Same time, same station, new PR promo.

Must be ratings week.

I'm sure his hatred for Trump is part of it, but so much has happened since the election.
I can't believe it's only been about 8 months since Cheeto stole the election.
How can any thinking person claim to support the Republican Party any more?

Mika probably helped him see the light, I hope.

Just like my Republican friends who claimed they'd never heard of George W. Bush after he became a total embarrassment. Their politics don't change, they just want to hang with the cool kids.

Funny how Trump himself never even wanted to mention W. What it worse is that there are a bunch of drooling centre right Democrats who not only want this guy in, but would gladly offer some liberal as an offering.

He's playing both sides off against the middle. He has ratings to consider.

His appearance tonight on Colbert was sickening. He and Mika are fully utilizing their new public relations bonanza to its fullest. They sounded like the same vacuous pair they do on their own show.

Twice I saw Mika look at Joe to make sure she could take the opportunity to answer a question.

When Colbert tried to pin them down on their comments that Trump had "changed" recently, Scarborough tried to gish gallop him. He still sounded flimsy in trying to justify it.

I was disappointed Colbert didn't bring up their enabling of and collusion with Trump through the campaign.
Scarborough qualified his GOP "departure" with assurance he would still champion Republican principles regarding the market, taxes and regulation.

It was also obvious the interview was heavily edited. No doubt it was to fit it into the time slot but what exactly was cut out? Was it the morning show duo floundering for answers and wasting time in doing so?

Then to close the show out, Colbert had the media personality and former congressman perform a song with his new band, a combo whose name is simply Scarborough.

All in all, it was pretty disappointing.
