Montana woman accused of forging signatures in $1.2 million land sale

A Great Falls woman is charged with forging signatures to force a $1.2 million property sale in April.

Reann Rothwell is charged with a felony for allegedly forging signatures in a $1,255,000 land sale, which required the signatures of people who say they did not agree to the sale.

According to the affidavit filed on June 7, the property Rothwell sought to sell was part of a trust, of which she is the trustee. In the event of her death, the property would be turned over to two people listed as victims in court documents. The Cascade County Attorney's Office has removed the names of the victims to protect their identities and to comply with Marsy's Law.

The trust states Rothwell is prohibited from selling the property without the agreement of the victims in the case, according to charging documents. In January, Rothwell allegedly entered into an agreement with another person, also listed as a victim, to sell the property for $1,255,000 with a $10,000 down payment.
