It's unfortunate that we seem more interested in tearing each other apart than supporting...

Each other in the fight to win back democracy. The only thing that seems to unify us is our hatred of Trump. Almost all the posts here are about the clownish shit show that passes for normalcy now. And rightly so, what we see unfolding now has had no precedent in previous US political history. Treason is being excused and normalized.

But hating the enemy is not a strong bond. When I see posts that occasionally touch on internal issues, more often as not they become self congratulatory circle jerks. Or they become racous name calling fights. Seems that the left has succumbed almost as much to tribalism as the right. The Hilary and Bernie camps have almost as much hate for each other it would seem as for Trump. A sad state of affairs when so much more actually unites us than decides us.

They will spend more time mobilizing against the right - working to discredit them, attack their "logic", promoting progressive and liberal media. We don't have time for getting mad at the "other" camp - the right wing is hurting people RIGHT NOW. I prefer to read posts on all the stupid and cruel things Republicans have done.

I always wonder about people who spend more time on here attacking their favorite enemy than exposing the corrupt and greedy enemy! We're never going to all agree on strategy, let's not let it consume us!

Both Democratic candidates were running on anti-Trump, even though one of them specifically said he was not endorsing Trump. And both lost.

Even if anti Trump sentiment was enough to win seats - and I am not sure about it - we need credible candidates. We thought that we could win the last special elections; Georgia was so close - but we lost all.

We have to face the truth that, for whatever reasons, during the Obama presidency, we lost 1,000 Democratic offices local and Federal. We need to travel the country and find credible candidates who offer something, not just anti Trump, and start building the base.

Wonder what we're supposed to learn from that ?
No one who mentions these losses actually cites the main reason for it- they just blame the DNC or DWS who wasn't even working for the DNC then.

What should we learn from the huge swing in popularity ofntrhe ACA. Shouldn't we be fighting to strengthen it?

and the Koch Bros dumped raw sewage on them in the form of lying attack ads.

Now that a lot of those voters now have seen thru the bullshit and appreciate the benefits of the ACA, it would make sense for Dems to campaign on strengthening it and defeating Trumpcare.

maybe there would not be so much tearing apart. As I see it the Republican "health care" is bound to murder some Americans that do not have the money to pay for health care. This crap about choice from the Republicans is a bunch of crap. What choice is available to those who cannot pay for "health care". By default there is plenty of suffering but not by those with money of the upper and some of the middle class.
When someone just doesn't give a damn if you live or die because you are not "important enough (read monied) you really expect that tormented, suffering human being to play nice?

"Support in winning back Democracy".

I'm extremely active IRL in getting folks elected from borough to governor, assembly - and with an eye on the 2018 midterms.

That work is the serious work - and in the circles I'm (in some cases state wide) this nonsense about Hillary and Bernie camps doesn't exist.

I think once folks outside of NJ and VA have something to fight FOR - the tone here will shift.

In the meantime, DU is the fun place to take potshots and the Republicans.

The serious work happens tonight after work at Leonard Lance's office.

Every district needs help. My pick for the 7th called me last night to ask for a donation and time. We are still hip deep in the State elections - but have held primary candidate forums for 2018.

It's now.

There's the "big tent" to "herding cats" to "circular firing squad" stuff, and then there's whatever echos you seem to be hearing whenever you visit this place.

DU may be a cacophony of Trump/Pence abhorrence, but it ain't no echo chamber.

I let my own radical left wing and environmental extremist flags fly high here, but I'm a solid democrat at home, in the "real world."

From my personal perspective Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama, are all right of center, just like this nation.

But you take what you can get, competent leadership is much preferred over the rabid bag of weasels the 21st century Republican Party has become.

But does she really have a camp still? She's not in office and not very active politically right now. Bernie is the most vocal critic of Trump. There are no camps anymore, we are united against Trump.
