"Trump looks Brigitte up and down. "You know, you're in such great shape...beautiful.""

President Donald Trump took it upon himself to remark on the looks of Brigitte Macron, France's first lady, during his visit to Paris Thursday.

"As Macron and Trump bid goodbye to first ladies, Trump looks Brigitte up and down, " tweeted Agence France-Presse correspondent Adam Plowright‏. The U.S. president then spoke.

"You know, you're in such great shape...beautiful," Trump said, according to Plowright‏.

Things had already gotten weird between Trump and Macron when the president greeted the French first lady during their first meeting. It looked as if the two were planning for a handshake, but that shifted into a half-hug, which morphed into a cheek kiss and Trump gripping the first lady's hand as if it were a videogame controller while shaking. Trump is scheduled to spend about 24 hours in Paris as a guest for the city's Bastille Day celebrations Friday.

There was an article I read back at the time of the G20 that suggested that his goal was to try to tether Trump in with the EU countries. There are many things - left from the past - where the EU countries are involved with us, including NATO, the fight against ISIS, Syria, Afghanistan, and climate change. In particular it seems that in the first two meetings and this one, Macron wants to influence Trump on the climate change accord.

The US is so powerful, that the rest of the world is better off if Trump is flattered and co-opted to do things that will be for the good of the world. It is also clear he likes Macron better than Merkel. I seriously doubt Macron is at all surprised that Trump can not behave like an civilized adult, much less a President.

I believe Trump uses this to take women off guard and surprise them. Most first ladies are not going to expect to have their looks commented about.

In my opinion, it's Trump's way of saying "I'm going to say whatever I want and there's nothing you can do about it". It's a power play.

Thu Jul 13, 2017, 03:54 PM
Jul 2017

I'm 65, so no spring chick here. I've lived through the times when bosses had a free ride with secretaries, cat calls were standard, and then when we woke up.

So, this old guy pumping gas next to me says, "isn't it awful we have to pump our own gas? We should go back to how it used to be". Now, I hate looking backwards, so I didn't agree I just mentioned he could go to New Jersey where it's a law that you can't pump your own gas. Then he says, "what I'd like is a place where pretty women pumped my gas". I was shocked but not searching for what to say. I looked him in the eye and said, I guess I might like a good looking young man attending to my car, but it really isn't that way around here, obviously. A young man two cars away started laughing and the man turned away to finish his gas.

A tip to men. Just shut up and be respectful. You can be friendly but if you don't know someone keep your approval of how they look, what they wear, and who you want to, "pump your gas" to yourself.

And we are fucking sick of this shit. Prepare to get called on it from this point on.

Oh and to those jerkoffs who say "Can't we even compliment women anymore?" The answer is NO! We are not your fucking property, asshole!

As an aside, the only guy I ever met in a bar who didn't hit on me, is now my husband. True story.

Trump bragged that he walked in on naked beauty pageant contestants
“You see these incredible looking women… I sort of get away with things like that.”

https://thinkprogress.org/trump-beauty-pageants-naked-2dc4b6c6d507

Another story of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump publicly bragging about violating women’s privacy and bodily autonomy has emerged. Women have shared stories of being harassed by Trump in the very ways he has publicly boasted about.

On an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2005, published on Sunday by CNN, Trump described going backstage at the beauty pageants while the contestants were undressed. “Before a show, I’ll go backstage and everyone’s getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it,” he said. “You know, I’m inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good.”

“You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’” he continued. “And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that.”

According to interviews BuzzFeed News conducted with former Miss Teen USA contestants, Trump did just that in 1997. Four women who were competing in the pageant that year — including one who was 15 at the time — recalled that Trump walked into the dressing area while they were changing.

...coming from a 70 year old.

As many men responded in the wake of these stories, I've been in a lot of locker rooms. I've never been in one where we all stood around and bragged about sexual assault.

And also in my experience, most of the men I have known personally had varying degrees of testosterone calling the shots in their lives, but even the SLIGHTEST HINT of perv behavior was seen as repulsive.

Two mutually consenting adults can be as sexual as they'd like. One man who has an inherent disrespect and sense of disgust for women in general also having a penchant for scoring their looks, peeking at them naked, and groping them at will doesn't quite fit Melania's simplistic "naughty boy" diagnosis.
