Got some gorgeous Jamaican peaches at the market this morning - stewed them and threw in two tablespoons of rum and a taste of lime. Chilling them for Sunday dessert but we just 'tested' them with coffee ice cream.
I'm definitely walking in the morning but damn those stewed peaches were divine.
Our peaches are never sweet. They are best in pies or stewed.

(14,119 posts)...... and send some stewed peaches with rum up this way. I am up here in Maine. I will take care of the coffee ice cream on this end - it would likely melt in your mailing during transit.
THX. Can't wait it sounds delish.
The lady who sells them told me she makes carrot and peach juice - I plan to try that next week while they're in season -and they are dirt cheap -J$150 a doz and she always throws in three extras ( US$1 =JA$130).
The recipe actually suggested brandy but the rum worked very well.

(63,221 posts)I love fruit deserts! Another one of my favorites is stewed rhubarb or a rhubarb crisp with a good vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt.
On vacation and eating tons of fresh fruit - berries, watermelon, cherries, etc. - for breakfast, but I loved stewed fruits for dessert.
