For any FEDERAL crime, the President's power to pardon is total. He/she can even pardon where there is no (or prior to an) indictment (a la Gerald Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon).

It doesn't cover state crimes.

Scheidermann has broad jurisdiction to bring state RICO & other charges against all these ... criminals.

The only one who can pardon State convictions is the governor of the state in which convicted.
NY governor not likely to do any such thing.

And an impeachment resolution has been filed, perhaps for this very reason. Also, I think if there is an indictment for a conspiracy, he cannot pardon co-conspirators.

The President cannot pardon a public official who has been impeached and convicted by Congress apparently.

The "absolute right" sets up a motivation for a coup by the good guys to prevent the bad guys from getting away with their crimes. Bush used the pardon to avoid further Iran-Contra inquiries where he likely would have been implicated. Not a good thing.

Hopefully the Trumpsters will face state charges.
