Or, are the earth and I falling toward each other, the relative motion of one toward the other proportional to the mass of the Earth and the mass of me, so if I calculate correctly ...

Is it time to pull that string? I perceive that ten seconds have passed.

And the Trump voter asks, "is that a real watch or is it fake?"

I'd still take care raking the chunky bits up while shaking my head. Placing them gently into the bags. Human body parts can be surprisingly heavy.

I wouldn't even mention physics while going about my work.

... which, while consisting of a backpack and a rip-cord, does not actually have the nylon canopy that comes with the more expensive plans. So, while you feel secure in the plane with the pack on your back, the coverage may not actually help when you need it.

We could debate the wisdom of choosing and paying for the Cruz-amended parachute, but, while viewing the Earth rushing up to meet you, can you remember the details of the options you chose when selecting a parachute plan?

But go ahead, tug on that rip-cord ring.

And good luck.

This is a misunderstanding of the idea that the fundamental ontological construct of reality may be consciousness, and not matter/energy as is believed by most members of modern technological civilization. All those members will dispute this idea vociferously.

The idea is known as "monistic idealism". Because it doesn't contribute to building more iPhones, it is widely discounted - especially in the West.

The Jackalope is a monistic idealist on odd-numbered days, and a materialist on even-numbered ones.

Of course these morons will contest where is East which is why they should be kept off the streets for clearly given their ignorance, the road code can be interpreted by perception.

I have a good Jamaican friend - she was visiting friends in New York and they were heading for Toronto to visit her sister. Now she lives in Jamaica so she deferred to her friends (husband and wife). Early on she realized they were going in the wrong direction because of the sun. She started dropping hints and two hours later when they were lost she asked them if they had mapped out the trip. I'm going to ask her if they are Trump supporters or just ReTHUGs.

The sun does not actually rise, it just continues in a large orbit around the center of the galaxy. The Earth turns to cause a spot on its surface to move from the shadow into the sun. So we perceive that the sun has risen even though we have merely ridden this spinning globe until we can view the relatively stationary sun. Perception.

Jul 2017

The actual land has, really, infinite levels of complexity, just like the measured length of a shoreline depends on the length of the ruler you use to measure it. Too much complexity for your average human brain to deal with moment-to-moment, so we filter and simplify reality into something- a map- we can easily understand.

And many of us spend a lot of time following our maps instead of paying attention to the actual land. A lot of people ignore the land or filter it out when it doesn't match up with their maps. That seems, to me, undeniable.

Also, some of us are using better maps than others. And just like in your car's GPS, it's important to update your map regularly.

A good example, though, are FOX News people who are in denial about just how incompetent the Trump team is. When reality finally, unavoidably intrudes, they're like the people who drive into the lake, because their GPS map is wrong.

Now, as for whether things like music or color exist without perception, no. I don't think they do, or I think it's a meaningless question to ask.

We have agreed to accept classifications.

Here's an true story. A young woman I know is not into religion but her aunt was visiting from overseas and they went to this church healing snake oil event. That night the scammers were going to heal this man who was born blind. After the mumbo jumbo he jumped up and said he could see blue, green, red etc. and the aunt grabbed her hand and said let's get out of this madness - no one who wasa born blind knows colors - we learn them.
