Ex-KGB agent: 'I guarantee you' that one or more Russian spies attended Trump Tower meeting

A former Russian agent told CNN on Saturday that he “guarantees” that there was at least one Russian intelligence operative at the June 9 meeting at Trump Tower that included Kremlin-aligned attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya and Russian-born lobbyist and former Soviet military intelligence officer Rinat Akhmetshin.
East German-born Jack Barsky — who once spied for Russia in the U.S. — said that he intimately understands how Russia’s intelligence agencies operate.
“In preparation for this, I refreshed my memory,” said Barsky. “We don’t have good data on Russian intelligence and Soviet intelligence but there’s some really, really good data on intelligence of my old country the German Democratic Republic.” He explained that after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the opening of East Germany, it became public knowledge that “one out of ten” citizens were working for the Stasi — East Germany’s communist secret police.
“Think about this for a moment,” Barsky said. “One out of ten people had official or unofficial connection to the Stasi, the Secret Service. So these kind of tentacles you expect to have been in place in the old Soviet Union and, you know, Russia is just — it’s a child of the Soviet Union.”
“I guarantee you at least — there was at least one if not multiple folks who had some intelligence connection in that meeting,” he said.
