The future of McTurtle - pure speculation

His favorables in Kentucky are underwater - 44 favorable against 47 unfavorable.

His popularity on the national stage is abysmal - 19 in one poll I saw (can't recall where).

He's getting old. He's rich. He is increasingly ineffective in advancing his donors' agenda.

I think this could be his last ride in the rodeo ring. The broncs and bulls are kicking his ass.

If he somehow gets the repeal/replace and the tax cuts done, he'll collect his massive bonus from his owners and retire to be a Colonel of the Bluegrass.

If he fails to pass repeal/replace and tax cuts, he'll miss the bonus but still retire to sip mint juleps, but this time in DC, where he'll grift/cash in as he is able.

Thoughts?

and KY bidnessmen and ministers will join together to name all kinds of crap for him, trying to deodorize who and what he was.

But yeah, if he gets another term, he won't finish it.

Some men live charmed lives. They're usually total assholes because they always think something is wrong with the rest of us.

...he's going for the consolation prize of shitcanning Obama's "signature legislation."

If he gets that, yeah...he's old and rich and corrupt, and in his mind, he will have achieved a career-defining victory, and will slink off under his rock to enjoy being old and rich and corrupt. What the hell else is he going to do? Put on a hard hat and help build the invisible solar-paneled Mexico-financed wall?

continue to re-elect him, either by gross stupidity, stubbornness or manipulated voting apparatus. If he is not re-elected you know he will start sitting on Corporate Boards making plenty of bucks and still influencing Corporate America's Republican Agenda. Alternatively he'll end up as an important lobbyist on K Street, senior partner at a powerful law firm, ambassador or cabinet member. The last 2 if Trump or Pence is still around.
