During a discussion of President Donald Trumps painfully awkward handshake with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump biographer and longtime observer David Cay Johnston noted that the president seems weak and unsteady on his feet.
After revealing that the French government contacted him before the election was even decided to consult with him about Trumps bizarre handshake style, Johnston said, I also think that one thing that may not be noted by most people is that I suspect the president wanted to halt the little stroll that they were having.
Macron and Trump who is volubly averse to exercise had taken about 10 steps together as cameras swarmed around them.
Ive noted in recent weeks that he doesnt seem as vigorous, Johnston said. He doesnt seem as steady on his feet. When hes walking with someone hell pause often to point out something or chat, but I also think he may be steadying himself so thats something for us to watch out for.

It's a terrible thing.
I wouldn't wish it on anyone BUT him.

(36,416 posts)Back in my day, we always read of the president visiting Walter Reed for the annual physical. I'm thinking the orange anus would totally blow of the idea of a physical.

I've been hoping for an "episode" -- you know, just some little episode like a bit of a faint, that will compel those around him to take the old man to Walter Reed, and the good docs can simply take it from there.

(18,837 posts)That's how my mom died. I know the symptoms and behavior...at least when it came to the last year of her life.
HE's definitely showing the signs of fatigue. He eats garbage, he's always in a state of rage, and it's clear that no one cares enough about him to show him the path he's on. The "We tell him but he won't listen" meme is crap. It may be the equivalent of talking to a wall but this man is not well.
It's hard to separate wanting him to resign simply because I think he's the single greatest mistake American voters have made in my lifetime, so I want him to, versus the fact that resigning might just save his life. He's not going to get what he wants. His face will never be on Mount Rushmore. He should cut his losses, hand the keys to Pence, and call it a day.
And yes, I know Pence is no solution. That simply puts the burden on us to come up with a candidate who can beat him in 2020.

(61,694 posts)tell him to take it easy, change his diet, or see a real doctor. They know the resistance they'll get from him.
I think the comments about him being unsteady on his feet have merit. He may be ready to stroke out. Or, he could be developing a neurological disorder.

(50,554 posts)If Trump resigns before...is it two years and a day? Think so...then Pence can only be elected to one term of his own. If Trump resigns after that, Pence can have two full terms.
This assumes Trump survives that long, but I believe you're right: unless Trump undergoes some severe lifestyle changes, he won't survive that long.

(2,034 posts)That was like a month ago. Seems like he's not doing so well. I can tell you that not exercising can put a lot of strain on your heart, as it has to do all that much more work to keep blood flowing throughout a stagnant, lax body.
