"Break-in and threatening note reported at office of GOP senator opposed to Trumpcare bill
break-in was reported at the office of Nevada Sen. Dean Heller and a threatening note addressed to the senator was left behind, according to The Hill.
LasVegasNow.com reported that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that someone broke into Hellers office on Sunset but would not confirm the presence of a threatening note.
A spokesperson for the senator declined to comment, saying the office cant comment on or discuss ongoing investigations.
Heller is one of the Republican senators who has thus far refused to endorse Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnells bill to repeal and replace Obamacare. He has been the target of a far-right astroturfing campaign in which the Trump-aligned group America First Priorities spent $250,000 to place anti-Heller stories on social media.

(5,275 posts)The thought that it can't happen here is wrong, it can. It seems like we now have our version of Hitler's brown shirts.
We are in for a fight, those of us who want a real democracy that is fair and just for all.

(11,175 posts)In four years he can do horrible damage in so many areas, but at least when we get back in power we can back on course. This is not to minimize the people who will die, the irreversible environmental destruction, etc.; we won't be able to undo everything that happens.
If he gets desperate, though -- well, for the first time in my life I think it's actually possible that we could see some sort of incident as a pretext for abrogating the First Amendment, arresting opposition leaders, canceling elections, etc. I laughed at the crazies on our side who screeched warnings like that in previous Republican administrations. This time, I can't dismiss the idea as crazy.
