During “Made in America” week, Spicer is repeatedly asked why Trump and Ivanka don’t make a lot of their products in the US. On Ivanka:

Where Did Trump Dig Up 45,000 Mining Jobs?
by JANE C. TIMM

President Donald Trump boasted Monday that the nation added 45,000 mining jobs recently — but there's scant data to back that up. One thing there is evidence for: Only 800 coal mining jobs have been created during his tenure.

"In Pennsylvania, two weeks ago, they opened a mine, the first mine that was opened in decades....Well, we picked up 45,000 mining jobs in a very short period of time," Trump said during an event pegged to American manufacturing. "Everybody was saying, 'Well, you won’t get any mining jobs,' we picked up 45,000 mining jobs. Well, the miners are very happy with Trump and with Pence, and we’re very proud of that."
....

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) estimates there are roughly 50,800 coal mining jobs nationwide, 800 of which have been added since Trump took office. (The six months before that, under President Barack Obama’s administration, 1,300 coal jobs were added.)
....

The White House didn't respond to a request for comment.

Stupid or Liar?

How an Adam Carolla theory explains the Trump team’s problems

By Aaron Blake February 15

“The Adam Carolla Show” has been named the most downloaded podcast in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records. And while discussing the day's news, Carolla will often return to a theory called “Stupid or Liar.”

Basically, when a celebrity or politician says something preposterous, the question becomes: Are they actually lying about this, or are they just stupid? The point being that neither is a particularly good option.
....

I keep coming back to this theory in the early days of the Trump administration. The seemingly nonstop series of over-the-top, counterfactual claims and misstatements — what some outlets are now flatly calling “lies” — that were a feature of Trump's campaign are now plaguing his administration. The false crime statistics. The baseless allegations of large-scale voter fraud. The shoddy claims about Trump's inauguration crowd. The “alternative factsabout basic events.

All of it, to me, betrays one of two things: deliberate deception or rank incompetence.
