Sanders Statement on Collapse of Republican Health Care Bill

WASHINGTON, July 17 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement Monday evening after Sens. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) announced they would oppose the Senate Republican bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, leaving Republicans short of enough votes to pass the legislation:

"I am delighted to see that the disastrous Republican health care plan will not succeed. The American people want to proceed to health care for all, not see 22 million Americans thrown off of the health care they currently have. This is a great victory for the millions of Americans who stood up and fought back against this dangerous legislation."

1. Rarely does anything happen within the Republican faction that McTurtle has not orchestrated

This "geat victory" would probably not happened if Bic Mac hadn't given his blessing for Lee and Moran to "dissent." Cases where the two of them vote against their majority leader on a major issue are rarer than intellectually coherent statements by Sarah Palin.

While it's true that McConnell never had Collins and Murkowski in an iron grip, the rest of them tend to ask "how high?" in unison when he tells them to jump.

All we can do is work hard enough for Democratic opponents to the Senate Republicans to the point where they fear an election defeat more than they fear McTurtle's wath--and then hand them defeat anyway.

They tell the voters, "I hear your concerns," and they tell the leadership, " I'm with you, but you gotta give me a pass on this or I get dumped in the midterms."

WASHINGTON — Two more Republican senators declared on Monday night that they would oppose the Senate Republican bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, killing, for now, a seven-year-old promise to overturn President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement.

The announcement by the senators, Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas, left their leaders at least two votes short of the number needed to begin debate on their bill to dismantle the health law. Two other Republican senators, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Susan Collins of Maine, had already said they would not support a procedural step to begin debate.
