I'm feeling good, for myself, for my party, and for the tens and tens of millions of people whose health care we saved.

(22,651 posts)but not making the insurance corps list plans on health care.gov exchange.
The exchange is where we have consumer protection help in choosing a plan, payment assistance, and help finding doctors and billing help. There is also help on health care.gov for those without income with medicare and Medicaid.

(24,324 posts)but it would put a lot of people our of work and cost a lot of businesses a lot of money.
Or, even more so-- the CAUSES of cancer could be found, etc etc etc
Sunlei
(22,651 posts)and that isn't happening for the past 6 months.
each month there have been more plans listed OFF our exchange and NONE added to healthcare.gov. That's how Republican party works to undermine ACA.

(22,651 posts)That actually is to the ACA 'law' advantage this time. If not for Obama & the good guys pushing hard asap first term, we wouldn't even have ACA today.

(24,324 posts)HOLY COW!. looks pretty terrible to me.
MVP-- Individual $325/mo
Deductible --$5000
MAX out of pocket $7000
"Hospital" 40% co-pay after deductible
Similar for other services.. including ER 50% co-pay
Doctor visit is free..
Am I missing something, here? It certainly would avoid a catastrophe, but this is their PREMIUM plan 'with bronze,' whatever 'with bronze' means.
I'm on Medicare so different situation, but their Medicare was 'damn good,' if there is any such thing. A couple years there was actually NO premium except the standard Medicare one.
Switched to Excellus this year.. pretty similar...
Sunlei
(22,651 posts)do google searches for healthcare plans to see the thousands of 'plans' NOT on our healthcare.gov.

(68,542 posts)$6000.00 with a 20'% copay until we reach an out of pocket for $8000. We pay just under $500 a month for this coverage. They pay nothing ...not a prescription, lab or doctor bill until we reach $6000. Until Obamacare changed the rules about annual checkups...I got a pap at Planned Parenthood and skipped the rest...this is insurance for many in America...but it is better than having none.

(24,324 posts)criticizing the ACA..
So you must pay up to $14,000, depending on what happens in a given year.. That CERTAINLY is better that what could happen with, oh, a quadruple by-pass.
My thought was just that, 'jeeze, even WITH the ACA, it still is nowhere near what it should be...which, I suspect, we all agree on.. I hope..

(19,034 posts)The Gerrymandering has entrenched far right extremists in their part for good that they cannot control.
The chances of them agreeing on something are almost as slim as the chances of a bipartisan bill ever getting passed. In order for anything bi-partisan we'd need a strong leader in the WH, one who is capable of compromise and reaching out to the other side.

I'll never forget what happened to slaughterhouse Sue (Sue Wallis(R) ) at the height of her evilness, she died alone in a hotel room in her sleep.

(19,034 posts)I have called and have posted numbers to call on my social media accounts.
But this failed because far right nuts in the GOP didn't think the bill was harsh enough, not because moderates in the GOP thought it was too harsh. It failed because extremists wanted the bill to kill more poor people than it was going to do. That's where the Republican Party is now.
Demsrule86
(68,542 posts)They know this Bill is wildly unpopular...Rand Paul in Kentucky would not vote for any bill in my opinion...but he can take the high road with the ' not conservative enough' BS.

(19,034 posts)The answer in DC is that it's always politics. The Yes votes get to have their cake and eat it too, they get to tell the nuts that they tried their best to repeal O care, but they don't have to run for reelection after having repealed O Care and taken health care away from millions.

(17,276 posts)They have a divided party that can't agree on what to do with healthcare--it's either to severe or not severe enough. And their great "leader" is out to lunch--doesn't see that it is his job to get out there and get votes or pump up the support of the people. He should be giving speeches and working at this! If he's actually tried, behind the scenes, it's been a big failure.
The Democrats are making statements critical of the bill, but is that doing anything? The GOP voters aren't listening to them. Trump has them all brainwashed that Democrats and the media lie.

(54,770 posts)That's a shame, particularly leaving people with serious illnesses wondering whether they will have insurance and if they can afford it. I like to think that can be used to leverage wins in Congress in 2018 and 2020, but I'm still reminded of the old white winger on NPR who said something like, "I don't care if they take my insurance, don't want any more government health programs, particularly one helping uninsured poor people . . . . . ." There are a lot of voters that vile.
